  1. 1. Why is the Obama administration pushing testing for kindergartners?

    • To eradicate political dissent.
    • To create jobs for educators and people in the education industry (a gift to unions).
    • To allow the US to compete with China in 50 years.

Just read your subsequent posts and realize we agree pretty much. I hate to see the attempts by the tin-foil crowd at turning everything positive this administration tries to do into some sinister plot to quake away all our freedoms. Unless we do testing we will not know what children need and won't be able to tailor our efforts to their specific problems. It will entail a lot more than just testing to do any good and funding will probably be an issue.

i own a couple tin foil caps but i try to stay reasonable and only sport them on special occasions. i'm with you though, while we do need testing to see what kids are starting off with - it's counterproductive to test early but slash head start funding.

Pffft! Kindergarten is for taking naps and learning to share.

No naps in Kindergarten anymore. Pre-K is the last year that they have naps.

As for the testing, I remember my daughter getting an assessment at the end of pre-K that we handed to her Kindergarten teacher. That pre-K program was awesome. Little one learned so much and got into the habit of sitting still and paying attention for a period of time. This is a publicly financed voluntary school readiness program that the state makes available to all kids. But then, I live in pinko commie Florida. Oh, wait...
