Weather in Morocco in the spring

Just a quick question to those who have spent spring time in Morocco (March, April and May). How was the weather? I'm trying to decide what clothes to take. My fiance says the weather will be nice but I know from being there before that he and I have different opinions on what is hot and what is cold weather. There were times he was wearing 2 shirts and a jacket and I was sweating to death in short sleeves. What can I say I'm a Floridian used to being in AC LOL. Also I am not used to cold weather at all - so there were some nights in the fall that I was freezing. So just wanted to know if I could get some ideas from those of you that have been there what kind of weather I might expect. Thanks!!!

Hey Abbi! When I was there in December, I had my jacket and sweaters. The jacket was not needed everyday but I wore layers. Nights were chilly. I've been there in April a couple of times, and it was about the same, but it can warm up that month. I've lived in Vegas since '97 so my thermostat is a little skewed. I recommend having some sweaters, light jacket or hoodie, and some shirts you can layer. I used light weight thermals as they don't take too much room to pack.

I'm so excited for you!!!! Enjoy yourself!

Thanks HappyToBe. I am trying to minimize what I pack but I'm sure I'll end up taking too much. Last time I just left most of my belonging behind in Morocco because I knew I was coming back. I am so excited and so nervous. Not nervous about getting married but nervous about the marriage process itself. And of course nervous about the flight. I may have done it before but I am NEVER going to love flying. Oh well...it's the only way I'm gonna get to Morocco so of course I'll do it. I'm stuck going through Madrid again and I sure wish I wasn't but it was the cheapest ticket so guess I'll have to do it. Maybe it won't be as bad this time.

Well it depends where you'll be. Ouarzazate is probably going to be warmer than Casablanca, etc. I've been to Casablanca in March and May, and it was mid 60s in March, low 70s in May. Laayoune was a lot warmer both times, like in the 80s. Maybe google average temps in the places you'll be, in what months?

I was there over spring break. It rained a little, was just a tiny bit chilly. Wore a light jacket. Froze our butts off at night though, as was kind of damp. Northeast side of Morocco.

We were in El Jadida this past April. During the day it was barely chilly, but at night.... it was frigid. Once the sun went down...chilly. We had to use several big blankets, and had to make sure the slippers were close to the bed..... brrrrrrrr. I was also in Youseffia, in April of 2008, and Marrakech and Safi. I wore a light jacket over medium shirts, but it got chilly at night. No Moroccan family is short on blankets! I have Fes weather on my phone and check it a few times a week and let my husband know when he's going to be cold and wet. :goofy:

I'm smiling about what you said about no Moroccan is short on blankets. I remember being surprised at how many they had. Guess they will come in handy on those cold springtime nights. I'm from south Florida - I freeze if it gets below 60 degrees.

If El Jadida is the closest, just look it up on weather.com and get a forecast just before you go (which will at least cover 10 days), and then see if they have the averages. http://www.weather.com/weather/right-now/MOXX0002:1

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Bring anything that can be layered. I was in dresses, leggings and light sweaters. Jeans and shirts other days. The south is obviously warmer than the north.

Thanks for all the suggestions. My fiance told me not to worry about it and we will buy whatever clothes I need there. So I think I will just pack a few things I can wear if it is warm along with some sweaters for the colder nights. Three more weeks and I should be there YAY!!!

HAVE A GREAT TIME! I am a Floridian and a Hijabi so I wear about 50 million layers of clothes regardless of season LOL so when there is a little bit of a chill, I definitely feel it! Ahmed lives an hour away from Agadir so it's much, much warmer than the North! But when I went up to Essaouira with Ahmed we were all freezing lol and this was in Summer, but Essaouira was windy so i think that contributed!! regardless of anything cold to me is like 60 degrees anyways laughing.gif so like everyone else said, bring some clothes that can be layered and maybe some undershirts you can slip on underneath your outfit? Bringing less clothes is a perfect excuse to stock up on some beautiful jallabas and kaftans though :)laughing.gif

I am laughing because you just described me perfectly. I FREEZE if the temperature is below 60. A couple of weeks ago it got down to 45 degrees one night and I thought I would freeze on my way to work! But on the other hand - it gets HOT here in the summer and extremely humid so I stay in the a/c as much as possible. So I don't handle cold or hot very well LOL. I grew up in Kentucky and we had snow and ice all winter. I think that would kill me now LOL.

But the trip is almost here. I'm ending up taking very few clothes. If I need something I will just buy it there. My suitcase is already full of stuff I'm taking back for the family and of course I have to leave room for the ton of chocolates for everyone!

I'm really trying to focus on the happiness of my trip right now. I think I told everyone that my little dog died yesterday. It is being very hard on me but I am just trying to focus on seeing my wonderful husband to be standing there waiting for me at the airport. And this time inshaa Allah we are getting married!
