So its been since Feb 7th when my man dropped his passport off at the embassy in Kingston, I was informed yesterday that I could check the status online at ceac so I did so yesterday for the first time and it said that as of feb 12th his case was in administrative processing.... ok found out what that meant and figured maybe it was just a thing that week but I checked back today and its been updated to the same thing:( Has anyone elses case been put in admin processing? What is this for and why is his case in this stage? Does everybody case have to go through it or just a select unlucky few????Please let me know if you have experienced this and how long it takes after this stage to get your actual visa

AP is further background checks. It could last a few weeks, a few months, a year or longer, no one can tell you how long it will be, it is over when they finish what they are doing. You cannot get around it or have it expedited. My husband had AP and it lasted 10 weeks. Good luck!!

So many people go through this VJ has forums for AP people: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/113-waivers-i-601-and-i-212-and-administrative-processes-221g/

You can maybe get some info in there from reading peoples experiences, generally happens more so in certain countrys and to men.

The problem is AP can take as long as the embassy wants.. there is no timeline for them to finish it and there have been people on VJ waiting a very very long time in some cases for it to finish.

We have been waiting since January 15,2013...It's very frustrating but hang in there you are not alone....you can try calling the US Department of State to get the most accurate info about where your case is in the process although they can't give you specifics as to why it may be in AP...I emailed the Embassy 3 times over the last several weeks and just finally today got a response from them but it was very generic saying "when the visa package is ready it will be sent to DHL and the recipient will be notified"...not very helpful since when I check online for the status it has been saying "Issued" and printed since February 5, 2013 and was updated on Feb 15 but DOS says "it hasn't been printed yet and sometimes that site is not accurate since it is new"...When my fiance last was at the Embassy on Tuesday Feb 5th (every week for 3 weeks they would call him requesting something else like fingerprints and then signing a statement that we wouldn't get married in Jamaica) they told him the signature was the last thing they needed and everything else was packaged and ready to go to DHL so I don't understand why as of today it still has not been sent...I wish I had an answer for you but at least you know your not the only one...I have talked to several others that have been going through the same thing with the Jamaican Embassy and from what I have seen the longest in AP was about 5 weeks...we are in week 5 so hopefully we will get ours soon and if we do I will let you know...

Anytime your case is being processed, thy call it AP. It depends on how long it takes for them to finish reviewing your case. it can take from 2weeks or longer. It is a toss of how long you are in AP. we have all been in the same spot, be patient, he will soon come.

I am so sorry this happened to you, it sounds like whomever did his interview forgot to complete some steps that are required by the embassy. Hopefully you will get it soon.

Thanks for your understanding...yes hopefully it will come soon....it's taking a toll but trying to stay positive...the system definitely needs to be revamped as it seems very disorganized...my main concern is for my fiance as there has been a lot of violence in his area in the last 5 weeks...the day I left to fly back to the states on Feb 17 we woke up to gun shots, someone was killed several houses down from his and there have been many shootings in his immediate area since, he needs to get out of there...not to mention we have had one obstacle after another in this process, we originally filed our I-129F on Oct 4, 2011, almost a year and a half now...after it was approved and forwarded to Jamaica his packet was lost in the mail and I didn't find out until a month after he was supposed to receive packet 3 then he went to his medical and admitted that he used marijuana but was at the time over 2 years since the last time and the physician put on his report false information stating that my fiance said he smoked 6 months prior so he had to wait 6 months to redo the medical, which took place in the beginning of January and went well, then they said we needed a joint sponsor but never mentioned it to us for the entire 6 month waiting period and wouldn't give me any information as to why when I am an RN and make well over the required amount to sponsor him myself. Thankfully we got this sorted out and ended up not needing the joint sponsor but then it was weekly calls to request random things for a couple weeks and now we have just been waiting....can't wait for it to be over...but believe you me I will definitely be contacting key leaders who will be involved in fixing our broken system so that hopefully our story will help prevent the same issues in the future. Sorry I totally just vented lol but thanks for taking the time to hear me :P

My hubby had his interview on 2/7, up until this morning when I checked ceac site, it said it said "case in necessary administrative processing, which may take several weeks." at work I decided to check it again, when I returned from lunch (around 3pm) and to my surprise it said "ISSUED" in big bold blue font.

The below paragraph stated, "your visa has been printed. Depending on local procedures at the location where you were interviewed, your visa will be mailed or available for pickup soon. If there are further questions, or if we need updated contact information, you will be contacted."

That was truly good news for the day! I hope it's delivered to my hubby tomorrow, so he can fly soon.

Hang in there, it's coming!
