Not to mention the fact that Ewok doesn't like when you open a new thread of the one that he closed...

I really didn't get the big deal with my question anyway - wish I had stayed to see the fireworks!

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

There is a "perception of preference for foreign spouses. " on this board....not so much in real life. Most people I know, friends, family ...etc.... found their spouses right here. I think when you're on an immigration board your perceptions may become a bit skewed.

I dislike stereotyping anyhow.

I'm an American woman and my family is my NUMBER ONE priority.

I'm so glad I have a husband who was looking for an equal partner in EVERY arena, on the homefront and the workfront and shares equally in all aspects of our life.

These threads pop up every couple of months and typically turn into a bashing of American women. If ask why I married a British man, the only reasoning I could give is that I met him and fell in love. There is nothing to prove as to whether one nationality is better here or there. It is down to personal preference and past relationships.

I could start listing things as to why my British man is better than an American man, but since I haven't dated every American man out there I can only compare him to a handful. I don't see that as a fair playing field. My guess is that the foreign women on this board married to American men would disagree with my analysis of American men.

These threads are nothing more than waisted space full of stereotyping.

As an American woman married to a foreign spouse (Canadian) I have to add here that I didn't go looking for a foreign spouse. It just happened. I was married to an American man too btw. He was an abusive, self-righteous pompous ###. I also live in a part of the country where thin women are preferred to women with a few pounds on them. LOL, I actually had one man tell me TO MY FACE that if I would lose a few pounds I might actually be attractive!! Thank goodness my self esteem is entact and I saw him for what he is....shallow. My beloved husband saw past the few pounds I have and got to know the person I am inside...and fell in love with me. He just happens to be Canadian. It wasn't planned for either of us, but I'm ever so glad it happened!

So you see, it can't be blamed on all American women. There are some "men" here in America that aren't much of a prize either!

We need a thread titled "why foreign men are better than American men"! :P Wonder if it would start a flame war?

They are subservient and thin. nuff said.

edit: the other thread was deleted? stupid cows.....

I think it's more not wanting an argument or to make waves. Go along to get along attitude. Thin and petite is also nice.

Aye to be sure...but thin and petite isn't always indicative of all there is to a person. What happened to getting to know the person inside eh?

Not to mention the fact that Ewok doesn't like when you open a new thread of the one that he closed...

I really didn't get the big deal with my question anyway - wish I had stayed to see the fireworks!

Yeah, trolls generally don't mind when they make comments to stir up trouble. It wasn't necessarily your comment, but the three other nosey women that followed your comment that couldn't drop anything. I just wish you could keep your comments to yourself, as I had made no assumptions about your pictures or had never even acknowledged you. Kthx.

I'm sure Ewok also doesn't like when you ####### on a legitimate thread, as you and the other nosey ninnies did on the last one. We were merely having an off topic discussion...yes, there was stereotyping of American women by some. That's the reason I think you guys decided to deflect attention away. At any rate, it's a moot point. :ot2::ot2:

Yeah, my bad...you're right. For some reason they decided to bait me and I took it in the last thread. I was just caught off guard. I need to just ignore them. Thanks!

I really really have a problem with people referring to a particular nationality and crediting them with specific traits, as if they were a paticular breed of dog

'the cocker spaniel is great around children....'

As far as American women, it's so short sighted AND ignorant to be all 'oh American women are this that or the other' cos as a collective, we come from every country on this planet! So how we're all the same, yet the women from other countries are 'different' is bullsh!t rationalization.

Tbh, the ones who slag off American women IMO are the ones who were shot down repeatedly & had to find love elsewhere where they had higher 'buying power' I mean really....every single one of us has found love in a different country. You don't see everyone here slagging off America....

And furthermore...look at the American women on here...sacrificing their lives to live them on hold while they fight for their loved ones. Don't tell me we're not family oriented. That's a load of sh!t right there.

AMEN.

"We are the real countries,

Not the boundaries drawn on maps,

With the names of powerful men.

That's all I've wanted -

To walk in such a place with you,

On an earth without maps."
