Hi everyone,

My fiancee has been approved for a K1 visa yay! Our son is now under the CRBA/Passport we did do a DNA and it sucks because we got delayed and it was pretty expensive but we got it done with and we got the results and I was positive to be the father and the US embassy in Manila already got the copy of the results. Now my concern is getting my child's social security number (SSN) reason is well i just wanna get two birds in one stone plus i have to file income tax, now how long does this process take? My fiancée lives in metro manila and when the embassy sends her letters or try to contact her it usually only takes them a week to contact her. Also how long will it take for them to mail the us passport and crba to her? I contacted the embassy about his SSN and they said contact the social security administration office in manila and ask them but when I emailed the social security office they said contact the American citizens service department (acs) and the website doesn't really tell me how to apply for his SSN it just has a generic info about what they do, anyways I just want this all over with its been a year long process but all worth it. Has anyone been in the same situation or have any knowledge on how the process goes and time frame? Thanks everyone. OBTW I did get my son a philippine passport too I heard about the fees and process. Oh and does anybody have any tips on things I should do or etc...thanks again guys/gals

I just received my daughter's CRBA and U.S. Passport this week from the Consulate office in Cebu. When he handed my the documents, he also gave me a blank form SS-5. He said if you want to apply for the child's SSN, fill out the form and bring it back to this window. I filled out the form, he made a copy of her CRBA, her bio page of her passport, and my bio page of my passport, then returned the originals to me. He said the SSN would be mailed in 30 days to the mailing address on the form. I used my US mailing address, as we will be traveling there next month. Hopefully, her SSN will arrive in time for me to list her on my 2012 tax return.

So how long did it take for them to have it did you wait 2 weeks or so?and I heard that they can give you a SSN for now but won't be able to issue the SSN card until 3 months because I had my fiancee call and ask how long does that process take since they didn't give me a straight up answer but she got ahold of someone in the ss department anyways we are being told that the we have to wait for 3 weeks for my sons crba because it takes 3 weeks of printing I'm concern because my fiancee visa will expire pretty soon and I hope it makes it within the deadline.
