K-1 Visas are only processed through Vancouver or Montreal. We put Toronto as our consulate of choice but were forwarded to Montreal anyway.

Not Ottawa, Montreal.

And yes, K1's are only dealt with at the Vancouver or Montreal locations. As far as I know the Embassy in Toronto doesn't handle any immigration stuff at all.

My Fiance at the time (now wife) lived in Mississauga and she had to travel to Montreal. And yes, those are your only two choices. Your file will be forwarded to Montreal if you live in the east and Vancouver if in the west. I don't know where the exact dividing line is.

That's right.

I came from Hamilton yesterday, stayed the night in a hotel and rocked the interview this morning.

I'm at the train station in Montreal right now waiting to head home.

Congrats on the approval. I hope you'll take some time after the rush wears off and post a consulate review.

Come on, keep it in perspective. It is (hopefully) only one trip for a successful interview.

BTW, my then-fiancee and son had to travel over 1,900 km for their successful K-1/K-2 visa interview. Heck, I even made the over 10,000 km trek to join them and support them at the same Guangzhou consulate interview.

The time apart and the distance apart only make the end results of this entire immigration journey all the more sweeter.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Yes, wishing good fortune to all. :D

:ot: Since my wife and stepson got their 2-year conditional GCs this past November, we certainly have been enjoying our twenty-one (21) month respite from dealing with USCIS. It was a LONG haul, with healthy portions of government red-tape and BS all along the way. But now we are just melding our lives and cultures together in our version of the American dream.

Happy trails….

P.S. When you get your NOA1 (I-797c) acknowledgement of receipt of your petition by USCIS, update your timeline to either the WAC (California Service Center or EAC (Vermont Service Center). The prefix in your receipt number will indicate with one. You sent your petition to the Lewisville, TX lockbox location, not the Texas Service Center (it does not process I-129F petitions). Putting in the correct service center will enable you to get a VJ estimated timeline for your NOA2.

Happy trails.
