Hi guys a few questions as I'm assembling the bits and pieces of my AOS.

1. Cover Letter

As per the guide you need a cover letter for I-130 and for I-485 (which includes EAD, AP, Medical and Affidavit Support)

I understand each form should be treated as seperate. So does that mean I need to make 6-7 cover pages for each individual "application/form"? Or one overal for all the applications?

If overall, since we "staple/stack" together each form, onto which "stack" do you put the cover letter :)

2. Affidavit of Support I-864

As checked previously I, the applicant, will be "sponsoring" myself since my wife doesn't have minimum income.

I see some say the sponsor (ie. my wife) has to include previous IRS transcripts and W2 etc. but she has not filed before since didn't earn income. I know I can write letter explaining her situation but..

Does she need to file back and get IRS transcripts or it is not needed since I will show my W2 and employer letter of "continuity of employment" ?

3. Alien Reg. Number for USC sponsor

My wife immigrated and held a alien reg. number. Do I need to put it, now that she naturalized a few years back, on all the forms (other than I-130 where it is asked) ?

4. Payment. Check seems OK but I see in the guide it is suggested money order to "track" payment? Thoughts? I mean I can see when people deposit my cheque in my online banking...

5. Shipping

USPS seems better, but I've had good experiences with Fedex. Some say USPS is better because it ships to PO Box.. Thoughts?

6. Ink

It says use Black ink everywhere but some argue Blue at least signature wise is better otherwise it looks like it has been scanned.. ! So I need to use black for filling some of the fields by hand that are too small, but sign in blue?

7. Bonafide marriage

Been married more than 2 years (which isn't the norm it seems for AOS, usually newly weds).. Do I need extensive proof of bonafide marriage beyond couple pics, lease, car insurance, joint bank account (one statement enough to prove or more?), etc ?

I can bring all originals, DVD of wedding, show my Facebook (!) etc at the interview but upfront in the application, how far do I have to go?

Hope this wasn't too long, thanks!

1. Definitely one cover letter for all! They just want to know what's inside the envelope.

2. Not sure, I submitted my taxes even though I didn't have income one year. Someone else can answer.

3. No Alien Number, she's a citizen now.

4. I did my personal check, and it worked great.

5. I did USPS priority, and they gave me a tracking number. It got there overnight, and it was way cheaper than FedEx. But if you have had a great experience with FedEx, then I would go with them.

6. I've heard of people having their packets back for using the wrong ink color. I'd just do black, they will be able to tell it's real from the indent.

7. Just include stuff like joint bank statements, joint utilities, lease info, copy of DL with same address, etc. No need to go all out in the packet, but bring everything to the interview. Some would argue putting everything in the packet, but I think it can be overkill.

Day 0 - 2 May 2012 Mailed AOS package overnight delivery
Day 139 - 17 September 2012 Interview & APPROVED on the Spot!! :)
Day 145 - 23 September 2012 Received Green Card!

ROC - Eligible June 19 2014

Day 0 - 18 June 2014 Mailed ROC package via 2 day priority

Day 42 - 29 July 2014 Approval and Card Production Email

1. No. The cover letter is not required, but you will need two - one for your 130 packet and one for your 485 packet. For example: your 485 packet cover letter would say "I-485, I-765, I-131, Birth Certificate, Affidavit of Translation, etc." - whatever the order of your forms are.

2. If your wife didn't work, who was supporting her? You may need to have that person sign on as a "sponsor" as well as include your own earnings. (don't take my word for it though)

3. No. You can put it on there if you want, but it won't matter. I was the immigrant and held an alien registration number. I input it on all my forms, but was assigned a new one once I was approved, so in that sense, it doesn't matter.

4. Cheque is fine.

5. I used USPS Priority. Much cheaper, and got there in a day.

6. Follow what the form says and not what everybody says by hearsay. The form says use black ink, so use it. Why is this even a question?

7. Look at the instructions for the form. It gives a little list of things to include, and it isn't extensive. Just follow that - at least I did.

Thanks guys

Will use black pen :)

And pay by cheque.

Ship USPS

And include bonafide marriage pics and joint accounts.

Putting alien number, no big deal she's USC anyway

And for I-864, wrote letter she didn't have to pay taxes / no income. And getting my CEO to write letter for my continuation of employment.
