I'm trying to assemble a few e-mails my fiance and I have sent to eachother as evidence of a relationship. In the K-1 guide it advises that "personal information can be omitted". So I'm curious what exactly constitutes personal information, and just what exactly CIS is looking for in the letters?

I kept all email to and from my fiance in a folder on my Gmail account, and printed the log pages showing the quantity of messages. They are not interested in the contents of the messages, only the quantity.

I think I sent maybe 10 sample messages out of the 300 plus messages, messages discussing marriage may be good ones to send as sample letters.

They just want to see an ongoing relationship.

I also sent screen shots of the message logs from skype showing the to and from times and dates.

nickypeas,

What guide are you referring too? Are you preparing your I-129F petition?

I read on this site that we should send a little of each type of proof - emails, phone bills, used calling cards, plane tickets, etc.

We sent 6 emails - those that spoke of our plans to marry and showed our love for each other (they all do really). Along with this we sent alot of other proof. Pictures are good.

A friend of mine sent 5 emails and blocked out one part because it was a bit risky (if you know what i mean) and not pertanent. So that is what they mean that you can omit parts - blacken them out.

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

07/2007 - EAD approved

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

07/2011 - Moved back to Brazil

for the initial submission of the 129f, you need to prove you met in the two years prior to filing the petition. phone records and emails aren't necessary. you use those for the interview to prove ongoing relationship.

Exactly what I was going to point out... It does you no good to overload the USCIS with evidence that does not prove a physical meeting... e-mails, phone calls, cards, letters, chat logs do not do that.... by providing all this it requires the adjudicator to sift through it will take longer to decide your case. If they take longer to decide your case then it is just that much longer till they can get to mine.....

in our case, we didnt block out the personal info...and we chose emails which have nice and genuine content...which could tell them that there's an ongoing relationship that happens :) it doesnt need to show the private ones, show something u like , up to u

Even though they're not necessary, I sent in proof of relationship with my I-129F to help their own convincement, also, by doing so you're one step ahead of the consulate, that will see your proof when looking over your case prior to your interview, in my case, the consular never looked at the proof I had brought to the interview, 'cus she already had loads of it from my initial package, and in fact, when I walked into the room, I could already see she had the green slip given to those approved sitting on top of my papers, and my case was already stamped with approval. I think it's a big help, shows confidence, makes for a solid case and organization to send in proof of relationship as well in the initial process. There's no need to overdo it though, and send like 50 pictures of you two.

I think you can avoid s#x videos or explicit photos, and references to naked stuff..thats what I would call private. Anything else could be ok.
