While you are waiting, why don't you fill in your timeline Did you know that VJ computes a general time when your petition will be approved, based on data collected here? Have you joined a monthly filers thread? Have you looked at the immigration timelines section?

Yes, the timeline should be filled out, it helps everyone else.

But the predicted time, at least for CSC K1's, isn't accurate...I'm guessing the algorithm it uses averages out over a certain time period, and the rate of NOA2's went from some reasonable rate to off the cliff. Maybe it will catch up to reality at some point.

I called alot, I tried expediting about 4 times. My fiance had a high risk pregnancy and nobody seemed to care. I couldn't get a doctor in the Dominican Republic to say they couldn't handle her case (as USCIS was asking to approve the expedite), I just had to pay through the roof for it instead of putting her on my insurance here in the States, where it would have cost me nothing. Doctors want their money too ya know... I imagine that my case was set back quite a bit with how often I talked to my Senator and called into USCIS. In the end, we got what we wanted, which is to be together for the rest of our lives. Looking back, 6 months or 12 months is nothing to wait, especially knowing you can be together forever and without needing to be separated. I probably should have tried expediting for financial reasons instead of medical reasons, but I was worried that if I said I couldn't afford something, then they could deny my affidavit of support. That was niave of me, but I was so focused on wanting to be with her for the pregnancy... I wound up not being with her because my son came one week earlier than the doctor originally wanted to have the emergency procedure. I only got two days notice... just the right amount of notice to push airfare up to over $1000 round trip (up from $400 round trip if you buy 2 weeks in advance), so I kept my original trip and hoped all was good from 3,000 miles away.

I wouldn't worry! I called about two weeks ago and got the same response from the California center "we are currently processing the July 18 apps." We are also filer August 6! Not sure they are processing any K1s in CA, I've done a search and the Vermont center has been processing a lot of NOA2 but from CA I have only seen people updated their timelines a few times in the past two weeks :( ....guess we just have to be patient :(

Uh... calling to affirm about a RFE not being recorded, then just calling once about your case post expected average processing times / then returning that call like the officer said I should was not unreasonable. Continuing to call isn't a symptom of insanity; it's just obviously annoying for both parties.

The question wasn't to complain about their reaction, which is understandable (I understand they get these type of calls all the time). I was just asking if the person involved has the option of putting my case in the way back or something ... or add some scrutiny to the case. I was worried, because I annoyed the person. However, I didn't think they would likely have any effect on my case. I was just worried and needed some reassurance.

Thank you very much for all those who responded; I do feel a lot better.

Seems to me that whatever you ask here..you will often get conflicting advice. I don't think that being concerned about your case is insane .... If you call, apparently you call too much, if you don't call, you haven't done enough. There don't seem to be any hard and fast rules. Personally, I didn't find anything aggressive or offensive in your tone. Just give it a little longer, and best of luck.

And THAT is the bottom line. In the end, it doesn't matter. Take the time to prepare for your life together and never forget what you did to be together. You didn't just OOPs, get married. You went through a lot and when the challenges come, and they WILL because it is a long, long road, remember what you were nce willing to do to be with this person and what they did to be with you. You should probably wake up, look at her and think about that every morning.

as far as expenses...those are just the down payment.

baron555 -"Why are you and your fiance(e) not using your time to discuss their future life here in the US and you doing what you need to do to prepare them, to set them up, to enroll them in educational classes, what about the children...???.....there are more pressing matters at hand then terrorizing USCIS.  Don't you think?  THINK"

Seriously? Now you want the poor OP to worry about getting on the "Known Terrorist List?" - If she is terrorizing USCIS with what she has done, then I must be Public Enemy Number One because I asked USCIS when I should follow up with them and how.

You assume she and her fiancee are not using their time wisely, you know what assumptions make us right? OP - don't worry about what you have done. You can negatively impact your case by badgering, but an occasional call to check the status? Normal, normal normal and prudent.

WOW!

I find it better to just simply ignore the processing time. Try not to focus on waiting. A watched pot never boils. Focus on something else, and then before you know it, it will all happen so quickly. My wife was anxious the whole time, and as a result, the time waiting, for her, was excruciating, while I went about the business of everyday living, and everything happened so fast.

The past three months, I called for the 3rd time, 1st time to inquire about a RFE,2nd to ask if I were in normal processing times, and then called since they told me to call at this time if my case didn't process by now.

The officer just gave me the generic run around, so I asked "The officer told me to call now since it should be processed around this time, so what can I do about this? Is there anything I can do about this or do I just wait it out?" He just said my case is still processing, and when I asked if it was in the normal processing time or when I should worry if it's past, he just told me, "Well the source of your frustration is when we tell you the time, so we won't tell you. You keep asking if you can do anything about this." I didn't know asking what I can do about this was negative like I was offering a bribe or something (I was asking only for what my options were other than to wait o.o)... I received my NOA 1 on Aug 6 2012, a rfe which I responded to and got a receipt (I wrote only the city and not the country in one of the entries - they didn't record my answer - they said it was ok when I asked about it).

I wasn't rude, but I just wanted to know if I had options and if my case was in normal processing time (The California center is processing the July 18th cases on December 2012). He doesn't even communicate that.. He just refused to answer anything, but give me the general "it's still processing." I didn't want to annoy him, but do you think he would spite me and delay my case just because I annoyed him? : /

Tier 1 agents can only see the same thing you see on the website and can not go deeper according to them, tier 2 how ever can see everything involved in your case

I acted a defensively when some of the replies compared my two phone calls about the processing time with terrorizing and psychotic behaviors. I just got really anxious since it's been a long wait and the officer acted really annoyed. It's my first time going through this process, and

I wouldn't worry about it - most of us on here are at least a little nuts. We're going through a long legal process of Kafkaesque opacity so that we can leave our homes, families and friends and everything we have hitherto known. At the moment I am calm and patient. I also have a to-do list a mile long and I know as my six months approaches I will get just a tad anxious in part because of the waiting on the NOA2 and because I won't have done half the things on my to-do list :-) I can predict if not a riot then a lot of last minute panics !

At least on here I can see when other Jan13 filers are starting to wake up and smell their NOA2's

Best of luck it will happen soon enough. It seems like only last week when we were doing the forms but we're almost two months down the line. I reallly need to get this house redecorated ......

First of all, when you call USCIS you are calling about a petition, not a visa application, the visa application is done at the NVC level, and a consulate officer approves or denies it at the embassy. And when you call USCIS you aren't talking to an officer you are talking to reps who have a script they follow and read off to you.

Yep, it makes me very astute.

There is plenty of information available about the wait times and how some obsess over it. So yes my assumption is right on. They should not even be on these boards asking these types of questions. It will take as long as it takes. When they go over the 10 month mark, then to me, that is the time to begin to question.

I will affirm that by calling and asking questions you will not delay your case as the customer service agent doesn't process your application. That being said, like many others have pointed out, you are not beyond normal processing times, they have received your RFE, so that means your case is being processed, that's great news! During this time, get all your stuff together that you need to for the K1 interview because after you get your NOA2 it feels like a speeding train with how fast everything goes. Your approval will come when it comes, there's nothing you can do.
