I don't often shoot elephants. But when I do, I prefer to have more than 7 rounds........

I actually have an elephant rifle. Winchester M70 Safari Express. Beautiful classic rifle. I keep it behind the kitchen door to keep elephants out of the flower gardens and it has worked perfectly so far...none of our flowers ever having been trampled by an elephant.

It holds four rounds. But they are very big ones.

It works like this...you go into the Savannah and locate an elephant. Take aim and fire! The elephant falls down. YOU fall down. The first to get up ...WINS!

The 2nd amendment is not about hunting and I never discuss the two separate topics at the same time.

Two or three rounds?

Hunting rifles are usually limited to two or three rounds, as are shotguns, unless you remove the plug, or block that limits capacity, if your have a larger capacity magazine.

But, you are saying, we don't need high capacity magazines for hunting, so we can take that off the table.

where did i say that?

hunting rifles are typically 4-5 counting the one in the chamber. shotguns don't come with a plug, which is needed for migratory birds. if one hunts non-migratory birds, or don't use that shotgun for hunting, then most states don't require them to be plugged.

where did i say that?

Looks like the hunting community is getting along fine without high capacity magazines.

According to the misleading thread title, anything over seven is redundant. I was reminded to take out my neglected and misnamed Browning "Hi-Power" to clean it, that I stuffed it into a drawer after "inheriting it" about six years ago. 13 rounds would make it an all-day shooter for somebody like me, even if the zombies attacked en masse. Having never disassembled the model before, it was fairly simple to figure out, without downloading the manual from Browning, which I did anyways.

The hunting community, unlike you and your liberal peers, does not need a mamma in washington to determine what it takes or doesn't take for them to "get along fine"

Looks like the hunting community is getting along fine without high capacity magazines.

i don't get it.

How arrogant!

How precise. Only a ignorant moron calls a "clip" a magazine. If I showed you a "clip" there is no way you would call it a "magazine". It means you have never seen either. That's like saying "tire" and "Wheel" are the same thing. Jeezum.

Keep talking...there is more

More ignorance.

The 2nd amendment has nothing to to do hunting.

As a public service I shall inform the low information posters...

Shotguns used for hunting MIGRATORY birds (waterfowl, doves, woodcock, etc) are limited by FEDERAL law since 1920 to not allow more than 3 rounds in the gun, including the chambered round. This has nothing to do with CRIME. Otherwise, except for migratory birds there are no Federal and very few state restrictions on magazine capacity for hunting shotguns. A popular feature of many slide action and autoloading shotguns are 7 or 8 round magazines (NOT clips!) Shotguns holding 4,5,6 shells are common for hunting upland game, small mammals and deer. My favorite wild hog gun was a Remington M870 with 20 inch barrel, bead sight, sling and 8 round magazine loaded with slugs.

The statement you make is completely ignorant and absent of any resemblance to fact or knowledge

There are NO Federal restrictions on the magazine capacity of rifles used for hunting and very few state regulations restricting magazine capacity of rifles for hunting.

Um yeah because 3x7=21, I doubt any gun owner has only one clip or just seven bullets.

I have many 30 round magazines. No 7 round "clips". I have quite a few 7 round magazines for the M1911s in my collection. I DO have some 6 round revolver clips and 3 round revolver clips, many 8 round clips for the M1 rifle. Some 5 round Springfield clips.
