I have a question for the experts. Ever since my wife's co workers and manager learned about her case approval they have begun to harass her. Mostly out of jealousy as she will be coming to the US. There was a safety deposit my wife paid at the beginning. If she doesn't give them a 30 day notice, she forfeits the deposit. The sample interview letters I have seen state to not give up employment until visa is issued. My question is that if she does give up her employment prior to the interview, will it be looked at negatively by the CO? On the DS-230 it says employed. I don't want her to be continuously harassed at work.

It won't. She can even quit that job now if she wish.

They only say that so that a beneficiary does not give up employment that they are depending on before a decision is made on their case. People will quit a job in anticipation of being approved, and then there will be a delay, and they will be out the money they could have made by staying on the job. The government is really thinking of your cost and hardship, not a requirement of their own.

I would say, if she is being bullied and is not feeling comfortable, quit!

Her job status has no bearings on the visa's approval.

My case:

I was serving my notice period when I attended the interview. I was never asked about my work.

I even booked the flight tickets before the interview, I would not recommend it, but it did not cause any issues for me. Everything will go fine, do not worry :)

Speedwell has hit the nail on the head. It's not necessary for the beneficiary to be employed in order to get a visa. The only financial requirements that the CO is concerned about are the PETITIONER'S requirements. If your wife is being harassed and it is not a hardship for her to be unemployed, there is no reason she should stay in her current situation. Good Luck!
