Question regarding NVC - Packet IV

Hi All,

I would like to thanks everyone for sharing their experience for newbies like me. I filed I-130 petition for my Spouse abroad(India) and got NOA1 on Sep 17th 2012 from CSC. We just crossed out 1st day after the 5 month process time of CSC. During my past couple of calls to USCIS, i was told that my petition was sent to Miami field office( never got any notice of it). I am hoping that we would get NOA2 soon.

While waiting for NOA2, i wanted to get all the docs required for NVC processing. I came across this link http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut in the forum which has all the details. My only question was, I saw that once my spouse sends DS3032 email and i pay the AOS and IV fee, we can send the AOS and packet IV.

My question is, the packet IV along with DS-230 signed by Beneficiary, has to be included with ORIGINAL docs such as my beneficiary's birth ceriticate, ORIGINAL marriage certificate etc. I was wondering,

1.these documents are to be sent to NVC by my spouse who is in India?

or

2.he has to show them while he is attending his interview at US consulate in India.

or

3.I have to get all these original documents from him and submit them to NVC and they will send the documents to the US embassy in India after interview is scheduled?

I am confused here, because When i saw in Mumbai Consulate website, i see a packet IV document where the consulate has sends a checklist to the beneficiary which has to be filled and sent to consulate and they will schedule an interview. That checklist is same as the documents mentioned in Packet IV. attached are the two documents. I would really appreciate your help.

either option 1 or option 3 with the latter being the better option because you can do it ahead of time.

The best thing would be to have your spouse send you all the documents including the DS-230 already signed on the first part and unsigned on part 2, so that you can send it, with the IV cover sheet to the NVC when it is time to submit the IV package.

When you send the original documents you should also send a photocopy of each with the package. If you read the recent NVC threads especially the first two posts with ALL the links included, you'll find most of your questions answered. :)

you need to submit originals to NVC before they mark your case complete and assign you interview date. if some documents are missing (like PCC as it take stime) you may inform them that you will submit those at the time of interview. you will get all your originals back during interview.

Mumbai IV Checklist is for cases who dont go thru NVC, for normal cases all documents needs to be submitted at NVC.

IV stands for "Immigrant Visa", not "4" :) (Just in case anyone was wondering.)

Related to the topic, can I just send notarized copy of the original documents to NVC and bring the original on the day of the interview? Or will notarized copy of the original trigger an RFE at NVC stage to get original?

Send the Originals, you will get them back.

Always send originals to NVC and a copy.

What I did:

I sent in all required documents (Originals) with 2 copies to my wife in US. She then checked them again and then shipped it to NVC.

When I went to the Mumbai consulate, they gave back each document, safe and intact, including the envelope we had sent in.

Since this thread answered my question about the copy/originals I figure rather than start a new thread since it's the same sorta topic I'd ask a question here too...

I need some help because after 3 hours of reading replies here and links I'm just as confused. First my husband is not here he had to go back so we are apart and hoping no one gives me ####### about that like the nasty comments I have gotten before. We don't have a lawyer so we are doing it on our own but with that comes so much confusion. We are still waiting on the i-130 but I thought I would try and start getting ahead to get everything ready for the NVC.

Can someone explain the difference of the 2 tracks i-864 and ds-3032 (I think that is what they are) the first looks like the fees are much less or is it the $88 on top of the fees listed on the ds-3032?

I have 4 children on the support form do I count the them all even though I just claim 2 for taxes? So my tax info will show different if I am to list all 4 children. Do I count child support as income or does that not count as the 125%?

I would be so grateful if someone could help me along with this so I can work ahead so we are waiting on them rather than them ever waiting on us!

BTW I love this site. Certainly helps on those days when this wife is really missing her husband and the 4,000+miles might as well be to Pluto!

Hi,

Either he could fedex the documents directly or he could fedex them to you and you can send them to NVC with your return address in the United States. But either way, you have to send all originals and copied of originals. Also search this site for the DS-230 cover letter and send that too. After paying the fees for IV and AOS you will receive the coversheets that must be printed and must go on top of each submission.

Hope this helps. Sorry for my late reply, but we were busy setting up our new home in Maui, HI.

Regards

Also, note that he will receive all originals back during the interview in India.
