And you would be wrong, like always. You tend to make a racist/backwards statement, claim you are pro choice, then call anyone who calls you on it a racist. So once again I have to school you:

Affirmative action was created to give minorities a chance to make it since back when it was conceived. Because everyone knows(except you) that being black or brown meant you had to fight three times as hard just to get behind. Personally, I wish we didn't have it, you should be judged on the merit of you actions, not the color of your skin. The guy who didn't want a black nurse for example, what was his reasoning for wanting a white nurse? DId he see the black nurses qualifications and deem her unfit to take care of his child? Did she do something wrong and he felt uncomfortable? No, he saw she was black. He's a racist, pure and simple.

So, what did we learn in class today kids? Here is the definition of Pro choice: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/pro-choice it doesn't give you the right to choose one person over another because of that person's skin color. That is called, wait for it, discrimination.

Affirmative action is preferential treatment based on race. I against discrimination based on race. You are not.

Should we be allowed to discriminate in who we marry? Or should we be forced by law to marry someone chosen for us? I am not attracted to black women, or Asian women or blonde women. Is that choice or discrimination? Is it racist that I prefer tall, slender, white (very white)Euro brunettes (preferably in heels and stockings) with small to medium breasts and Russian accents (French would be a suitable 2nd choice)???? Or is it a fetish? Whatever, should I be able to choose that particular type of woman to share life with? Have sex with, have children with? Pretty personal stuff right? Should I also be allowed to choose who handles my child's medical needs?

Personally I have no problem with people of any race rendering me medical care if I need it, nor that of my children or grandchildren. I could not possibly care less. But some people do and I think they should have that choice in who does very personal care the way they do in their personal life.

Pro choice means accepting that not everyone's choice is the same as yours.

Actually this is what it means: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affirmative_action

So you're cool with people being racist, if that's how you feel, good on you. But stop saying it's pro choice, it's called being a racist. And stop telling folks they are not against discrimination, because clearly you have issues with race.

Have we slide so far so fast that you "are not cool" with the freedom of letting people think what they want about other individuals or groups?

Are you the new Moral police?

Need a deputy?

i know you have a difficult time with context danno.

my grandparents were both 'typical white people' of their time. it took them almost five years to accept their two half black grandchildren. seriously, i was visiting with them every other weekend, while my cousin who was a year older than me - living in the same town as me and my grandparents - had never even met them, he was not welcome in their home. their own flesh and blood.

thankfully, they were able to outgrow the racism that affected many people in their generation. my grandfather ended up being a very close friend and more of a father to my cousin than his actual dad. people can change for the better.

In all probability the grand parents wanted their grand kids to "be like them" racially. In time they accepted the reality of the situation and even bonded with the children.... but make no mistake if they had their druthers... they would have preferred things to have been a little different.

So I doubt they were "cured".

This certainly is not unique to whites, in fact it is even more strongly felt in many other groups and situations.

What Jewish mother does not want her son to find a nice Jewish wife?

There is nothing "New" here, this mixing of races, faiths, ethnicities has been going on since the beginning, yet through the inclination of *Most* people to gravitate to those like themselves we continue to enjoy a diversity of people in the world.... and no doubt will for a long time.

Context would really be helpful right about now. No one is talking about invading your private thoughts, they are yours and I am pretty sure no one here wants to know what you are REALLY thinking. You can think whatever, it's when you try to project those thoughts onto other people then you might encounter some problems. The guy in this article is a racist, plain and simple. There is a difference between preference and hatred.

I have morals, but I don't force them onto other people. I do hate when folks say they aren't racist but then go into great lengths as to why they can't stand another race. Like Gary, we all get he is into the RUB women, but I find it weird that he finds blacks and asians not attractive. Maybe I think different, but with all the countries I've been to, I have seen beautiful women everywhere, black, white, brown, asian, doesn't matter, beauty is beauty. I would never tell a woman, oh you're white so I don't find you attractive.

and yet again, danno attempts to tell me what actually occurred in my life. and yet again, danno is wrong.

to further the idiocy of your post, i can't even tell what point you're trying to argue.

but thank you for the history lesson. i sincerely thought my family was the first to mix multiple faiths and ethnicities. i was wondering why we hadn't yet been approached for a reality series. what would i do without danno to provide a well rounded world view to my narrow inept perception?

Actually you can't "cure" racism, it's not a disease. You don't catch it from someone or something, it's a learned behavior. No child is born hating another race or gender.

Some people cannot comprehend that not everybody is full of hatred like they are.

Personally I think affirmative action hurts the minority more than it helps. It sends the signal that you don't have to try as hard and you can still succeed simply because of your race. I think at one time it served a purpose, but that time has passed. I'm sure there are companies that wont hire someone because of their race. I also think that companies will hire someone simply because of their race to look diverse to the outside world.

I worked for a black owned telecom company in Denver when I got back from Thailand. That company was given preferential treatment on bidding for govt. contracts simply because it was a minority owned company. On a high level, that doesn't seem fair.

I'm white, so the only racism I've really experienced was living in Asia, specifically Thailand. I was always charged a higher price or got hassled more by the cops simply because they assumed I had alot of money. They don't even hide it in alot of cases. When you go to a national park for example, there's a Thai price, and a foreigner price. That may be more nationalistic than racist like paying out of state or out of country tuition I suppose. I would never ever negotiate buying a house there. The price would be double than if my wife bought in on her own.

Try being white and getting a taxi in Tokyo late at night. Not easy. I could only imagine being black in that scenario.

My point is if people keep asking for, or are being given, special treatment based on their race, then they will NEVER be equal.

In some regards it does. I would rather be hired based on my whole experience as a human being, rather than the color of my skin. And there are many folks that feel the same way, Clarence Thomas is very vocal in his crusade against it, and I agree 100%. I wouldn't want a handout, I want to earn it, that way when you get to the top there are no raised eyebrows about how you got there. But in contrast to that:

Look at the articles I posted within this thread, there are several qualified African Americans that can't get hired BECAUSE they are black. I actually read if you have a name that sounds "black", you should change or shorten it to sound more "white" until you get the job. This is why AA is still in effect. In all the articles I've read, if you have a "non-ethnic" name you are 17% more likely to get a call back and interview than if you name is Kiwanee or Shaniqua.

For whites in Asia, I wouldn't call it racism. I've spent 3 years living in Japan, and travelling to all the other parts of Asia as well. They associate you with money so you will pay more but you won't get turned away from businesses like I have. I've been to bars that stopped me at the door and told me no service but the drunk white dudes behind me get in with no problem. Getting a cab in Toyko wasn't too bad, now Hong Kong, that's a different story. We had to have a white guy decoy in our group just to get around.

I don't want special treatment, I want equal treatment, just like most of my people.

That's my point. Affirmative action IS special treatment based on race.

Let me put it this way. When a white person goes to work and sees a black person working there, what should his first thoughts be?

1. The guy probably got the job just because he is black due to affirmative action.

or

2. The guy must know what he doing since he is working here.

Should be number 2, but there are some folks that refuse to believe we can operate on the same level as non minorities. Look at the tuskegee airmen, they scored high enough(sometimes higher) than their white counterparts, and they were still rejected. That's why Affirmation Action came into place later on, minorities couldn't get their foot in the door, no matter how hard they tried.
