What might have been more effective was had you proved a Jim-bob from Iowa might be running the 200 meters

in the summer Olympics.

Sure but did "you" read it?

<<<< In doing so, Kenteris became the first White male to win a 200 meter sprinting medal at the Olympics since Pietro Mennea achieved the feat by winning gold at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow.>>>>>

What percentage of amateur runners in the world are african?

What would be the odds they would dominate so heavily? Especially when many come from places with the lowest level of training funds available.

This is the essence of PC- denying or silencing a reality.

*The same guy was also disqualified from the 2004 games for Doping violation, he apparently declined to be tested when He found the new testing method could not be beat.

Pshhhhh

Let me get this straight. You find it remarkable that Africans win running contests because the funds for training are not there. This compared to western countries and affluent cultures where we have so much funds available that the only time we walk or run is if we are paying a trainer to try to get our fat asses moving!

Yes there is a direct connection to money invested into sports programs and the likelihood of

a. people even being exposed to the sport

b. Proper coaching available to nurture the young talent.

When champs come from underfunded places, it says something.

MAybe you are relating your lifestyle to serious Athletes but I think that would be a mistake.

No serious American Athletes have to be pried off the soffa.

Could it be that coming from a underfunded program, you have to work twice as hard? They work their butts off to get to the level they are.

You just get more ridiculous with each post! You think it takes money to be exposed to the act of RUNNING!! You seem to have not even a shred of insight into life anywhere but here in our pampered and over-indulged country. When so few American youth by percentage are ever subjected to any real motivation to remain lean and fit and to actively pursue a discovery of the performance potential of their physical selves, it is no wonder that we produce far fewer olympic level athletes in such a basic activity as running! Youth from undeveloped countries have far more to gain from pursuing olympic glory than do our youth, proportionately. When was the last time you tried to pry a pre-teen or teenager away from his computer or ipad and get him outside in the fresh air? In that context it may be an advantage not being afflicted with motivation-sapping wealth and affluence!

True. But far fewer children will be in any position to get identified as a "serious American Athlete" when they have already adopted a lifestyle that began as a toddler parked in front of a TV watching cartoons and consuming calory enhanced American junk food! Who knows how many of those children might have had the genetic endowment of potential olympic greatness but had it quietly choked out by a life beginning in early childhood of pampered over-indulgence and facilitated laziness!

You just hate American don'cha? (Typical lib) :P

I have yet to see any high school close down sports teams due to lack of interest.

Are you suggesting some arrive at the Olympics who "havn't" worked their butt off?

Yes, we have student athletes and some very good ones. What percentage of high school students are such serious athletes? And how many of those on the team really take seriously any kind of dedication to year-round conditioning? A few do. Not very many.
