Me-o-my that was fast. We mailed our joint I-751 that included my 21 years old stepdaughter as a listed dependent on October 30. US-CIS TSC cashed the check on November 2 and yesterday (November 10) we got the I-797-C Notice of Action for my stepdaughter dated November 1, 2006 in our mailbox. It is "Verification of Inclusion of a Dependent in Filing of Form I-751". It basically extends her current Green Card for one year while the case is being processed.

We were worried there would be a problem in filing her as a dependent after she turned 21 years old, but it went right through without a RFE...so far. However, it's not over until she gets conditions removed and a new 10 year card is issued.

We haven't received my wife's NOA for the same I-751 yet, but it should show up in our mailbox soon (I hope). The US-CIS works in mysterious ways.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Hey, that's good news! I hope your wife's NOA arrives soon as well.

Thanks very much for keeping us updated. I was really undecided what to do in May with Chris, who will be 22 by then, and including him with David's I-751. I read on another forum a case where they insisted the I-751 be separate for the "adult-child". *sigh* Consistency is not their forte is it?

The I-797C NoA for my wife's I-751 arrived in the mail today extending her Green Card for another 12 months. The long wait begins...processing times for the I-751 are taking about 6 months through TSC now.

That's good! How ironic it would have been for your concern about her daughter's inclusion with your wife's I-751 only to have your wife's NOA lost in la-la land!

Here's to a speedy approval without any glitches!

They usually could care less about immigration matters and leave all the dirty work for me to worry about. Somebody gotta take care of business and that be me!

Same thing happened to us. My sife's daughter received notice that she was included as a dependent on my wife's I-751. Never received ANYTHING for my wife. No receipt, no ID #. Never was able to access the ID on the on-line status website. Luckily they wrote the ID number on the check. A call to the Info line confirmed that the application was in the system.
