Hi, a while back I posted a thread asking for help and info on the visa process for my wife here in Peru.

I'm happy to say that it has been approved and we are waiting for the visa from the DHL office.

Once again I have a few questions! After our interview the person at the embassy said I just had to email them my tax return and then wait to pick up the visa at the DHL.

What I am not sure is how I know when to pick it up, do they call you are send you an email? He said it would be ready in about 2 weeks.

Also what does this visa allow my wife to do? Or what kind of visa is it so that I can look up more information. From what I understood, since it is an immigrant visa, we have to live in the US for at least 3 years. Just trying to see what comes next as far as if she can work in the US and how long until she can apply for US citizenship.

Also, do I have to do some other paper work once we are in the US for her to be able to work?

Thank you so much for all your help!

Congratulations.

With the visa upon a successful entry she'll get a temporary green card stamped in her passport. With this she's eligible for most work (some work require US Citizenship) without you needing to do anything other paperwork except for maybe social security.

If you were married for less than two years then your next contact with USCIS should be 3 months before the two year anniversary of the conditional green card.

Good luck.

CONGRATS!! There are two ways I'd think you can check on the status of your passport with the visa stamp: 1) Call the embassy during the 1 hour timeframe they answer questions. 2) login to http://usvisa-info.com/es-PE/selfservice/verify_account, you might be able to see the waybill # assigned to the delivery of the passport to DHL. That is the site one HAS to register with to send in missing documentation and most use it initially to select the closest DHL oficina to have the stamped passport delivered to.

As for your other questions, looking at the guides and FAQs may help you.
