You must have missed something major for them to send it back twice not even cashing our money order! Usually they take your money and then reject you or ask for more supporting documents.

I tried to google the classification sought thing and came up with nothing. Call back to uscis and ask for a tier 2 person, the people answering usually don't know what they are talking about anyway..

Sorry everyone I am trying to learn how to navigate this site. It's a wee confusing!! It was a I-129F Petition we filed along with all the other stuff..G325 etc. We can't even get out of the gate!! There was nothing missing in our documents!! doesn't say "missing information" ...just "Classification sought" hmmmm

No problema! We all had to start someplace… and the best place to start is the GUIDES section of this forum.

I am sure that you can get it sorted out.

Good luck.

I was so frustrated as myself and my fiancee called them...both times they said along with all their disclaimers "perhaps you should consult with someone" like if you can't ask them?? Too weird...What does "classification sought" mean to you..

I am not sure what it means, but it sounds like they were not clear from your documentation and petition what you are filing for? Are you making statements of fiance/fiancee in your documentation? In your statement of how met and conitnued your relationship, is it referencing an unmarried relationship? Not really clear on that reason, Please post the letter on here.

Call back on Tuesday when uscis are open again, demand to talk to a tier 2 person and ask them what they mean with classification sought. The tier 2 will know.

To me classification sought sounds like they can't determine what visa you are applying for....but that makes no sense either since you sent along everything you needed.

Please keep us updated and good luck!

All forms completed in full, and reviewed by an immigration document preparer and an Immigration lawyer!! OMG!! Guess this whole thing is a study in patience and perserverance! In the "old days" (my youth) you could go to the states and get married and it was ok.!! I do hear over and over it is really hard for Canadians!

Nah it's not harder for Canadians!

But you do have the option of getting married and then apply for the cr1 visa...maybe that would work. You'd still be apart waiting but hey if the K 1 don't work...

I did some researches on "classification sought" and found some documents, if that can help you...

-classification seems to be the kind of visa you file for - I know...

I found 2 links:

1) one is pdf from the state departement (talking about visa classifications)

http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/87168.pdf

2)the second one, less important, (what they mean by NIV classifications)

http://www.ustraveldocs.com/gt/gt-niv-typeall.asp

For me, it's a problem of your visa classification, maybe they didn't understand that you filed for a K1.

-Did you have a copy of the forms that you sent?- If you don't have a copy, ask your lawyer to check.

good luck!

Are you absolutely sure the form that is being sent is actually the correct one, the I-129F? http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

The I-129 is a petition for a non-immigrant worker and that form does have 'classification sought'.

http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

https://www.google.c...iw=1143&bih=520

Follow this guide: http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide

It lists the exact forms with links to them, plus what supporting documentation is required. Also be sure to read the I-129F instructions: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-129finstr.pdf

There are also example forms for information on how to fill out the forms: http://www.visajourn...ontent/examples

Nothing on the I-129F about what classification you are seeking: http://www.visajourn...Form-I-129F.pdf

What fee was sent? The fee for the I-129F is $340. Fee for the non-immigrant worker form, I-129 is $325.
