Hi guys

Assembling final paperwork to file for AOS.

For I-693 medical exam, it seems since 2010 all adults also need flu shot if in season (ending March 31st as per immigration)

I have 2 choices.. do flu shot now or wait to do my exam April 1st.

I'm not a big fan of flu shot (or any vaccines) but is there any other option? I mean it is almost end of Winter.. not even sure they have stocks anymore.

All other required vaccination is up to date otherwise.

I don't know how a TN visa works in terms of timing so I'm not much use for helping you decide. I'm the opposite of you and a firm believer in vaccines so we had ours already. From our case complete to interview date it was only 1 month so we had to have it based on that timing (even if we didn't normally get them).

Do you do an interview with a TN? I don't know your process so I apologize for not being much help. If you can time it and wait then I guess just don't bother with the shot since you don't want it anyway.

if you got shot before you came here, just bring that with you. When I submitted my AOS, I submitted the record of my medical examination that I had back in Philippines, I even sent the cd on a sealed envelope and later on they gave it back to me. whatever may happen don't open the sealed cd in an envelope. let them open it because that's what they want to see. when they gave back my cd sealed in an envelope it was not yet open, they didn't do anything about it but I need to bring it back with me in my interview date just in case. they will just get the record of your shots from you.

Until the end of the designated flu season (31st March as you said) you are required to have a flu shot. You can either have the flu shot or wait until 1st April when it is no longer required. These are the only two options.

I've got a bit more than 2 years on my TN so with those 3 years TN visas timing isn't much a of issue anymore.

It's more of a matter of starting the process sooner than later, esp. to not be relying on an employer.

Will take the shot then for USCIS and let it be the last :)

I would go to a physician that does everything for the I-693, and explain that you don't want the flu shot. My husband did not want the flu shot as well, and he spoke with the nurse. He got his TB test done that day, and some kind of vaccination (not sure what lol but he was freaking out the whole time because of the needle) but she said it wasn't the flu shot. I think there must be something on the form they can check so you dont need it. Anyhow he passed the medical and results were given in a sealed envelope.

Thanks for the info! Looks like he got no RFE if I check your timeline. I thought they only allow waiver for religious/belief and it's "complicated" process?

I'm not scared of needles but I don't believe in vaccines (a bit late for my childhood ones!). Also end of winter season, flu shot takes 2 weeks to become active, so that's March! Hopefully if I take it doesn't effect the immigration medical exam having that new shot in your blood..

This might need a new topic but, my vaccination record is in French.

I found the CDC website has all translations of deseases/vaccines and even the names of vaccines used.

I've translated it and noted the pages and seems I got all vaccines right.

Anybody else had records in a foreign language? Hoping I don't need to find a French civil surgeon in San Diego :)

I'd probably call a few USCIS approved places and inquire about the necessity of the flu shot. If it is required, then either wait it out until March 31st, or have it done eomswhere else and bring proof to the medical exam. Usually, it's less expensive that way. Same goes for the rest of the vaccinations if you're missing any.

On a side note, I had no flu shot done - niether in home country or the US. Sent AOS in December and no RFE for missing flu shot. AOS approved 7 months later. My original medical was performed in February.

Yes good idea! I've called and one doctor said we can surely find a way to waive that flu shot requirement. Scheduled for this afternoon for the medical, will post back my experience shortly tonight. :)

For posterity purposes, did my medical and doctor put "contraindication" for flu shot. :)

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days
