Serves As I-512 Advance Parole card

Hi VJ friends,

I haven't posted in awhile, but to update, after Ying arrived from China at POE (Chicago O'Hare Airport) on Sep 28, 2012, we have been pretty busy. We got married on Oct. 27, at a friends house. We filed all the AOS forms on Dec 21, 2012. Ying had her Biometrics done already, in January. Here is my question. We filed both the form I-765 Application for Employment Autorization and form I-131 Application for Travel Authorization with our I-485 Application for AOS, and paid the $1070. So Ying just got this credit card sized card in the mail from USCIS, with her picture, that says at the bottom, "Serves as I-512 Advance Parole". The card is good for one year. Can she use this card to travel outside the US now? She will need to go back to China while she gets her son's K2 Visa all worked out in the next few months. It looks like on the USCIS site, they say if you get this card, it serves both as employment authorization and travel authorization while you await your I-485 approval. Thanks!

Correction, we filed all the AOS forms on Nov. 21, not Dec 21. THanks

07-26-2012 - Packet 3 returned
07-27-2012 - Packet 3 received (yes- one day after she already sent it in- mini short-cut)
08-09-2012 - Packet 4 e-mail received
09-04-2012 - Interview
09-19-2012 - Received Visa
09-28-2012 - Ying's POE date (Chicago O'Hare)
10-27-2012 - Married!!!
11-20-2012 - AOS forms sent to USCIS

12-26-2012 - Biometrics Appointment

02-10-2013 - Ying gets I-512 Combo work authorization and travel authorization advanced parole card

06-23-2013 - Ying returns to China to assist with completing son's K2 Visa

07-10-2013 - Ying's son, Zongyang, passes K2 Visa interview in Guangzhou

07-29-2013 - Ying's I-485 AOS is approved

08-03-2013 - Ying's 2 year green card arrives in mail (she's still in China with son)

08-08-2013 - Ying and Zongyang enter US, HK to Toronto to O'Hare

Yep, you got the EAD/AP combo card. What you describe sounds exactly like the card my wife and stepson got last year. :thumbs:

Yes, it is an EAD/AP combo card. The USCIS has been issuing the combo cards since Feb. 2011: http://www.uscis.gov...0004718190aRCRD

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
