English-only outside the regional fora, si man!

Actually, that's a rant that I've kept very quiet about: Filipinas/-os who lapse into lengthy Tagalog or whatever, ask arcane immigration/embassy/sputum questions that apply only to the Philippines, or both, in the upper fora.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I have diligently done so, but Mrs. T-B. won't let me teach Mini-Bone pedo, mierda, besa mi culo, hijo de puta, or any other fundamental Spanish terms, no man.

Actually, she has relented somewhat in regard to the first term; when either one of us cuts one, either Mini-B. or I will say "Uh-oh -- pedo!" Male bonding, si man.

Rant -- or, rather, a soapbox moment:

The true secret to a genuinely happy marriage is this: When one partner has to fart in bed, he/she should announce the impending event (aloud) immediately, turn at least 90 degrees away (optimally, and given time, 180 degrees), perform the event, and flap the production out his/her side of the covers.

Down off soapbox, si man.

Rant -- one of the several utterly fundamental things that women will never comprehend or heed:

Sweetheart, leave your hair long and straight and never EVER mess with it, no man.

What is up with this? My husband says the same thing - long and straight. My hair is naturally wavy, so he always nags at me to flat iron it when we go out. He "likes it better that way". Must be a man thing.

In the end, Ecu is still a third-world country, sigh man...

I know, I seem to forget this at times (despite overwhelming evidence to support that fact).

Agreed! I had to know Spanish to even date my husband, actually, because his English was poor at the time. It's gotten better, though. :star: I'm actually kind of glad that I had to learn it when I did, because if he were Swedish or something and his English was perfect, I'd probably have a hell of a time teaching myself his language - I'd probably get frustrated and revert back to English all the time.

Actually, mine likes my hair better curled, but it is too much of a hassle with the long and super thick hair I have to do it. I have some curls after I wash my hair...but as soon as I brush it...boom....gone.

I got to tell you, I've lived here for a while and my Danish still sucks because everyone just speaks pretty good English to me. The second I appear not to be fluent in Danish, so many people just switch. I had the same problem with the Swede I dated for a long time. With Spanish there are also just so many classes, books, TV shows, and speakers. I could find one good Danish textbook that went into grammar. Also, my husband doesn't see too much of a point in me knowing Danish which is a problem. He constantly translates for me when I know full well what somebody is saying. He doesn't even give me a second to respond! Drives me nuts.

 Ah-ha! I'm going to secretly super study Danish and surprise him with it like 2 months from now. I already pretend to know less than I do so I can listen in on his family.

Lucked out here: Previous and current cat = lap-fungus. However, same can prove inconvenient, because Heaven most definitely frowns on anyone who awakens a sleeping cat, see man...

Moflita (La Gorda) has taken to crawling under the covers with me during attempted postprandial naps, zzz man. She keeps me awake with purring and by whipping me with her muscular tail.

My cat LOVES to sit on my husband.

But I want to actually be able to pick up my cat.

I want to be able to do things like this with my cat:

Rant:

Let me preface by saying I am NOT complaining about gas prices because I would rather rant about people that complain about gas prices.

I hate how the gas prices in canada FLUCTUATE.

Yesterday, 1.20/litre.

Today, 1.33/litre.

That's just under a FIFTY cent difference for gallons!

If the US did that, people would be like WHAT THE HELL?!

And it happens EVERY thursday morning.

My husband only works thursday mornings.

So I always have to get gas early, just to avoid paying INSANELY more.

Seriously. I do NOT understand this at ALL.

God I remember when I first came up here and it was 88c/litre.

But that's when gas was like 2.35 in the states and so of course I still groaned lmao.

That was the longest rant in the history of "The Rant".....

If you think reading it is long, you should try living it! :help:

I do wonder if its a long term plan to get me to say yes to anything she wants without knowing what it is. None of the requests she's ever made this way has ever been a big deal, new jeans, new shirts, new shoes, new hand bag, send money to momma, send money to kuya, etc... Actually she doesn't even need to request these things, she has complete access to our money and knows when we have extra or not, she just likes me to be the one throwing out the check card. She won't even use her check card, instead she wants me to give her cash every week and she spends it as she wants or saves for bigger things. Heck often what she buys is a gift for me because I rarely spend money on myself.

I'm breaking up the rants to post what I find to be one of the funniest effing videos I've ever seen on the internet.

This was sort of a stupid fad but this one was so successful imo.

And the girl in the car? That's me
