I do P90X between skype conversations with the wife.

Keeps me from getting, what does that horrible comic call himself...., fluffy?

P90x and walking 2-3 miles a day helped me drop 16 or so pounds last spring/summer. Although it does tend to be bulk me out as a woman differently than I'd like.

I started lifting weights and doing crunches and squats again yesterday and hopefully now that it might get up to like 38 F every day I can walk and bike more.

Now, to get the hubby to lose weight. I am like a couple of pounds overweight with my BMI, but he is obese. He lost maybe 20 or 30 in the first 6 months when we started talking...but hasn't lost much since. He really needs to get down to 220 to be healthy at his height while maintaining his muscle mass. :bonk:

I'm guessing that since you want him down to around 220lbs he is around 6'2"?

If you don't want mass then you need to do very light weight and a lot a lot a lot of reps. This will give you strength and tone the muscle you have. You will build some muscle but it will keep it to a minimum.

High protein diet, substitute meals with protein shakes mixed with berries (blue berries are great as they are antioxidants). Protein before your work out and a shake within an hour of your workout. Snack all day long and reduce the size of your main meals.

Etc. etc. etc.

Actually he is 6'6" but pretty muscular everywhere but his torso/belly (he bicycles and does heavy lifting all day at work). He was actually about 195 when he stopped growing, so I think his heart isn't built to handle being 275. I refuse to be an early widow now that I've found my soul mate. :crying:

Hubby's family owns a gym and while we're waiting for his visa to come through he's been working there and thus become a health/exercise nut. He's always been athletic (soccer, beach handball, volleyball) but working at a gym and being there all day has really driven his hobby into overdrive. Needless to say he's in much better shape than I am, but I really don't think I'm in terrible shape! I go for a run every afternoon (probably like 3 miles or so) and do some light weights to avoid getting squishy. As long as you're physically active and watch what you eat, you're doing better than most, IMO.

USC who lived in Manabí, Ecuador with hubby from 2009 - 2013. Hubby became a naturalized American citizen in August 2016. Currently living together in northern Virginia.

Wow, he's super tall! Latinos are a notoriously short group, and thusly my hubby is only 5'10". I'm 5'8" so when we go out and I wear heels, I'm taller than he is. He doesn't like that too much.

 They actually have those "hidden" heel inserts nowadays so short men can boost their height without others knowing. Hubby's flat footed, though, so I doubt know how that would work out for him.

Yeah, apparently there's no hope for my arms. I was skyping with a friend last night and complaining about it when my hubby came over, grabbed one of my (fat) arms and started making helicopter noises. Talk about supportive.

My wife is 110 lbs wet, and she complains that she's fat (she's 5' 1) I call her "Stretch"

5'10 is a pretty normal height for an American man, isn't it? When I first moved here and the first time I flew over on a Dutch flight....I was in awe at how tall everyone was and now I don't even notice. I think for a Dane, I'm about average for women of all ages at 5'6", but a little shorter than the women in my generation but it isn't overly noticeable.

Maybe related, but I used to hate how many people knocked my checklist of requirements for a man. A girl has to have standards, right?
