rant:

apparently I can be ignored and that's a-ok but the instant someone else feels ignored, even if they aren't being ignored, it's hell breaks loose. Not dealing with that bullsheet double standard today.

I opened the door this morning to let my dog out and I walked right into his trap.

He had been waiting there in the rain out of sight...maybe for hours, who knows.

When the door was barely open he rushed passed me in blur and made hardly a sound, I made a sound though..."OH SHlT!!!"

He disappeared into my kitchen as my dog headed out the door unaware that our perimeter had been breeched...good job dog.

I guess that once he was in he had a change of heart because just as he had arrived he decided he wanted to leave...in a hurry...via a closed window over the sink.

He really wanted to leave, I could tell because he kept bashing his head against the glass...testing for a weak spot I guess.

Luckily for both of us I was able to restrain him quickly before he crapped all over the breakfast I was preparing for my wife when he so rudely barged in.

I escorted him to the same door through which he entered and mercifully sent him on his way.

Once again my dog passed him in the doorway still completely clueless that we had been violated...go take a nap dog you've had a busy day.

I hate it when wildlife enters without invitation.

A bird??? Used to have a place where bats occasionally came in through the window. Didn't normally realize it until the middle of the night :help:

My second rant of the day.

Cell phones....or more so the A-holes who let them rule their lives. They cause accidents and have even been the result of broken marriages (a la Tiger Woods and Elin)

This picture really got me this morning

Obama-salute-marines.jpg

This isn't a new picture it was taken in 2010.

I'm a former Marine so maybe this is more insulting to me than many others. Two simple things he could have done here.

1. "Hang on" put the phone to his side and properly return their salute.

2. He could have not returned the salute at all. He's not a warrior and those Marines are saluting his position not his person. It's like saluting the American flag...no need to return the salute.

Cell phones are the devil and the President is a sinner.

Teaching a 4 year old to read - a frustrating process.

Teaching a 4 year old to read in 2 different languages that use the same alphabet but make very different noises for many of the letters - :ranting:

I can see it now, "Mommy, why is hvad pronounced like 'vell' and dig like 'die'?" :pop:

EEK! Nola I don't envy you!

Operator I agree. My husband would be pissed too, he was USAF. He hates driving around Colorado with everyone on their damn cellphones. He's like "really? can't you people even DRIVE somewhere without talking on the phone?" He almost never answers his personal phone if we're driving unless it's from the person we're driving to see (they may need something.) Granted he grabs out the phone when we're waiting to be seated at a restaurant, but in general leaves it in the pocket while we're at the table. He's respectful to not yank it out while we're with others too. I've gotten used to not getting an answer until he has free time during the day. I'll admit mine is out more than it should be. /slaps hand. BAD NIKI!!!

I thought most people knew by now that talking while driving is almost as bad as drunk driving. You can always tell the talker because they are driving too slow or their reactions don't make any sense. Just awful.

Colorado is pretty, I'm sure you'll like living there. I lived in Golden for a few years and thought it was great!

I'm such a masochist that I'm enrolling her in Chinese when it opens, I'm not too sure if it next year or for 1st graders. They have a class just for kids who don't speak it at home. We have almost no Chinese people in our town, but many of the kids takes Mandarin. IMO, it is a pretty useful language and so hard to learn if you don't start at any early age. Same with Danish, she won't get the accent and throat noises right unless she learns them before 6 or 7.

Rant - jumping into what is a fairly competitive society from such a laid back one is worrying me about my husband. He doesn't get that whilst you can't push a child, you can lay a good path before them and afford them every opportunity. His parents didn't recognize or care how intelligent he was and they never encouraged him in the slightest. I hate that. His teachers even encouraged him to go on to gymnasium and university to be a lawyer or an English teacher, but his parents said naught of it and even encouraged the opposite.

Dear upstairs "neighbors", when we move out I am going to write you the most brutally honest letter ever. I hate you. I hate that you think it is ok to turn the music on loud a 11:05 pm when I've fallen asleep at a reasonable hour. I hate that it woke me up, again. I hate that I can hear you and drunk friends sing every single word. Also, the reason that you are alone at 25, the both of you, is because you are a bunch of drunk losers. What kind of man wants to be with some alcoholic? Oh, and the men who come home at night and don't stay, it isn't because you are liberated, but rather they just don't want to stick around... You are not a pair of 19 year old frat boys, start behaving like ladies and maybe someone will treat you like you are.

Too bad you couldn't crank your music at 6 am and make a bunch of noise to give em a dose of their own medicine. I had a neighbor like that when I lived in Toronto. I usually called the police on them a couple of times a week if it was after 11 pm.The police issued would usually issue a ticket for a noise violation. They ended up getting evicted after I complained to my landlord a few times. I got lucky because my new neighbor that moved in worked the same hours that I did so he was as quiet as a church mouse.

This will be my first and only rant about my miscarriage. When the physicians I spoke with mentioned that 1 in 5 pregnancies end in a miscarriage, I didn't think it would be too literal in my case. After my pregnancy ended, three friends announced they are pregnant while one gave birth several days ago. I'm really happy for them but it seems a little odd that there really are five of us. blink.gif

The process of miscarriage hurt my husband more than he admits it because he felt helpless seeing me go through the process naturally (no D&C). That was the first pregnancy for both of us. He's 40. Today I made him heavy breakfast and out of nowhere he said, "How do you think we can socialize our kids?" My heart leapt because that's a good sign he is ready to try again. It has been nearly three months since we lost our first baby.

Hopefully I'll get a BFP before my 26th birthday this year, and that baby will go full term and well into adulthood and old age. I want to have two to three kids in this lifetime and see even just a few grandchildren. wub.gif

It can be hard coming from a laid back society. My exSIL found it hard to live in Calgary again after being in Hawaii for 6 months. Everyone was in a rush, people were abrupt, etc... He will probably have a hard time adjusting to it. Sometimes I wonder if we don't let our kids just be kids anymore because they need this or that to make sure they succeed in life. Such is the hard times of being a parent. :(

Let me know how that goes for your daughter. Are you gonna have her learn Spanish and French, too? unsure.gif

We had noisy neighbors back then and instead of getting them evicted, we used them so we could break our lease. devil.gif

I think the time here is 7 am. We get sweet revenge though, my daughter likes to scream a lot.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I've had a few miscarriages and one full term pregnancy. I know it can be very hard to lose a child when you are so ready for it. We got our BFP in October and lost it soon after, then it seems like everyone I know got pregnant that exact month and even some celebrities. That hurts because you keep thinking "I'd be that pregnant now". *hugs*

We are in our two week wait now, but I'm not overly optimistic.

It can be hard coming from a laid back society. My exSIL found it hard to live in Calgary again after being in Hawaii for 6 months. Everyone was in a rush, people were abrupt, etc... Yeah, it isn't at all like when our parents were younger. I actually enjoyed not having any free time growing up between all the extra academics, sports, and cultural experiences, but I know every child isn't that way. It is hard being a parent and weighing all the different options. Such is life being born into a family like mine, though.

I would call our society "WASP" because that is basically what it is, but there are expectations and I'm not sure he is ready for them. I've been coaching him, so we will see how that goes.

Let me know how that goes for your daughter. Are you gonna have her learn Spanish and French, too? unsure.gif

We had noisy neighbors back then and instead of getting them evicted, we used them so we could break our lease. devil.gif

You can break a lease any time here with notice because there are no time limits. Actually an immigration condition to this country is that you can't have a lease that has an end time, someone's wife recently got denied a spousal visa and deported for that. Fun Danish immigration time?

I took French from the time I was 7 through university, but I can't say I use it much. I also took Latin, Spanish, and German (and then a semester of Portuguese and some Russian in uni), but don't ask me anything because I don't remember... I found French to be helpful in learning word roots in English, etc. and it does open the doors to Spanish. Usually kids in my town take two languages - a romance language or German and then Latin or Mandarin. When she gets a little older, we can start with French. I don't want to get her too confused. Spanish is probably more useful though, right?
