Tonight is the end to an awkward and tiring couple of days. I had to deal with a lot of emotions from being in Stockholm and Sweden again that I didn't really want to. My daughter didn't miss us at all when we were gone and I have to leave behind the best in-laws ever soon.

Also, being in Sweden made me really really pissed that the Dane couldn't just suck it up and live there for me and that it had to be Denmark or America because his stupid centuries old feud hatred won't allow him to just like Sweden. It is pretty, they drive normal cars and it isn't a matter of having a car or a house there, and men actually hold open doors and people are nice. @*($*(@*$)@($*(@**@*@(@(

Why didn't I stay with the Swede? Actually we had a conversation about this on the ride back home - mostly the answer is the Dane is the love of my life and I couldn't find anyone more perfect. :luv: Too much sugar for the thread?

He dozed off in the car in Sweden and almost killed us both.

Enough rant?

Congratulations on the approval! Are you coming right away to the US in a few weeks without having one more European family trip?

I've always really wanted to go to Sweden for some reason. Do Danes have something against Sweden, or is it just your Dane that doesn't like it there? Ecuadorians are like that with Peruvians for some reason. Maybe I'm being a little racist but I think their cultures are really similar (kinda like US/Canada) so I don't see what all the hubub is about. whistling.gif

Maybe that or it has something to do with the super old Scanian War. unsure.gif Me, I've always wanted to go to Switzerland.

That was actually at the family home of one of my wife's employees. I was in the Philippines during the company anniversary and they (the company) always take a trip somewhere in Mindanao. We went to Comval and this was during a couple day stop on the way to that area. I really loved the nippa hut living style in the middle of the jungle. Much cooler than the cement homes in the city and hanging out on the porch above where the mosquitoes bite was great. Although I still prefer running water lol

laughing.gif It is a lot cooler in most provinces. I guess I'll have to stop here and not tell you more about other primitive ways that I know used to exist in the Philippines. You might go wacko.gif.

I haven't been to Bali but my husband and I once stayed in Alumbung Bohol. It's owned by a Frenchwoman and her Pinoy husband. They said that their cottages are patterned from the Balinese Lumbung. I find the lumbung sturdier than nipa huts. It seems kinda weird that most Filipinos think that those who live permanently in nipa huts are very poor; however, when you travel to some mid-fancy resorts, they actually build nipa huts because they know foreign tourists like those and charge the rooms with some sizable $$.

Believe me, every Ecuadorian man in the country is stoked that Ecuador is so far up in the FIFA ranking, it's all I've been hearing for weeks. They've never broken the top ten before, and since Brazil is hosting the World Cup, they don't technically have to play any of the teams in their bracket to get in which is good for the rest of South America. Hubby says that there used to be an Ecuadorian that played for Celtic called Kaviedes, but he's unaware of one that currently plays, and wants to know the name. And at half time Ecuador is winning 2 - 0.

Somehow this turned into a convo between our husbands relayed between us. blink.giflaughing.gif

Kaviedes was the one Hubs was thinking of, but he says that there may be another. I'm sure he'll be online for ages now, research every Ecuadorian player from the last decade. And he's stoked that Ecuador is winning.

He's not allowed to comment any more because I've told him that this site is MINE and I'm not sharing. laughing.giflaughing.gif

I've spent a fair amount of time in the provinces. Just always in cement houses. You can't scare me about the Philippines, unless its about going to the wrong parts of Mindanao. I've been there so much my friends there declared I was no longer a Kano but now a Kanoy, because I live and act Pinoy there. I knew my wife for 8 years before she moved here and we got married. Had to promise we'd move back there one day or she wasn't coming lol.

Made one friend there who keeps wanting to take me out boar hunting in his home village. If it wasn't in the Moro autonomous region, I'd probably take him up on it.

he had a book written by another friend of mine on fishes in the Pacific and it was his life's goal to see every species in the book.
This is a great goal and fascinating, both for him and those whom he tells about it, si man. As a hyskool student, I found a book of plants & flowers and began trying to identify as many as possible. Sadly, too few were indigenous to the area, sigh man.

This reminds me of a tangent, si man, from the old Andy Griffith Show:

Floyd the Barber [reading from newspaper]: It says here that the dingo dog is indigenous to Australia.

Sheriff Andy: What's a dingo dog?

Floyd: Oh, I don't know... but it's indigenous to Australia!

Ecuadorians are like that with Peruvians
During my first meeting with Mrs. T-B.-to-be's family, I was prepared to answer questions with pre-scripted answers. They asked why I was interested in an Ecuatoriana, and I said, "Todo en Peru san feas," which is probably awful Spanish for "Everyone in Peru is ugly." Her four sisters giggled, hee hee man. Oh, jeez, I'm sorry to hear that. sad.gif Everyone's having hubby problems today! Hope it all gets sorted out soon.
Bummer, man; same here. Here, had some good laughs with Mrs. T-B. when putting her to bed. We discussed the scamming Colombiana and flaky Peruana that I abandoned in favor of her. I then reminded her that we had more hormigas (ants) in the kitchen and suggested that her housekeeping skills are inconsistent. She tried to give me a chicharron (a clobbering), whereupon I hastily sprang from the bed and promptly tripped over one of Mini-Bone's trains, ouch man. Edited by TBoneTX

I woke up feeling a little better, enough so to clean up our apartment and not be annoyed by having to take a bucket shower. Little did I know the Ecuadorian national team had a game today against El Salvador at 4:30. mellow.gif Nothing agitates me more than listening to 10 men screaming at a soccer game, with my MIL making loud obnoxious commentary in the middle of it all, trying to fit in with a bunch of twenty-somethings. Errgghh.
Glad that you're feeling better, si ma'am. I'm perpetually mystified by the Third World's fascination with "kickball," as the name really should accurately be, but that's a subject for another (inflammatory) thread that I would not survive.

I once asked Mrs. T-B. whether the Ecu kickball team was any good; she said, "They win only the unimportant games. When things count, they're [fwooeep]," and she gave a cancellation gesture. Maybe they're temporarily better now.

To her credit, she did procure for me a genuine-looking Ecu kickball jersey, in a small store in Zamora or similar tiny burg. She apparently asked the clerk for the biggest shirt possible, pointing to me. I did catch "gringo monstro" (monster Gringo), and the point was confirmed. Sadly, that jersey went to the resale shop along with approx. 7,485,003 other shirts that came down when the closet-rod collapsed the other day, sigh man.

Glad everything went well and you made it home without your husband killing you in a terrible car accident. smile.gif

The Danes and the Swedes have I believe the world record for most wars fought between two countries. It is a friendly rivalry, but the Jutland Danes (those who don't live close to Sweden), tend to have some issues with them.

Congratulations on the approval! Are you coming right away to the US in a few weeks without having one more European family trip?

We will be coming if we get the visa. That AP pending the medical makes me nervous. I just hope my husband didn't catch Lyme the last time he was in America because I did pull a tick off of him. It has been a year so I am trying not to worry. Lyme can bring back a false positive on a Syphilis test. They are kind of similar in shape:

No European vacation for us, I am the broke after all this going about.

People who ###### about the file from abroad auto expedite thing are getting on my nerves. Deal with it or come trade places with my life.

Also, my father in law actually told my SIL that it was a good idea that her new boyfriend move in after a month. Now, I understand that some people do this, but my SIL is special and this isn't a good idea.

I was irked today because it was cloudy & windy and the temperature didn't make it out of the 60s, no man. Want to come down here to share in some unparalleled Texas pollen?

If it rains anytime soon, the bluebonnets will come out soon, see man:

More fotos here -- enough to cheer anybody up, see man:

I've been to Texas when the bluebonnets were blooming before, wonderful sight. Almost as nice as Minnesota when the rag weed is blooming, si man.

I miss watching my wife sweeping the ants out of the kitchen in the Philippines. With her short witches broom, she was bent over looking for ever tiny piece of rice that attract them in. Her bent over wiggle was truly a wonderful sight to behold. Here we have no ants and she uses a swiffer. I knew America would spoil my wife, been over a year since she's touched her 2 foot long witches broom. I miss that bent over wiggle, si man.
