This photo was taken for Cary "The Professor" H...

have you ever thought about the reason they're always red?

rofl.gifrofl.gifrofl.gif Those dippers are not always red. They come in blue, green, etc. Using a pail and a dipper for bathing is so much more convenient than having to fetch water from a dug deep water well using a plastic bucket attached to a long rope. And then there's the traditional well pump. Old-fashioned wells were once the main source of water in some parts of Negros Occidental and I had fun experiencing those in my childhood during visits to relatives.

Cary, do you know what an "arinola" is? devil.gif

Steve, thanks for sharing that particular photo because it brought me back to the Philippines for a few fleeting minutes.

I found a better place to eat tonight.....

I've seen tabo available in different colors, but I've never seen any but a red one in CR's in the Philippines. Which is got me to thinking about why, which brought me to my educated guess as to why.

arinola? Can't say I know that word. But something is telling me I might prefer not to

Here's a picture for just for you Calypso, and yes I was in that crowd to before I took the picture.

just wanted to let everyone know I won't be posting any more.

Yet again, my husband things I'm cheating on him with all of you, so, gotta go.

Hopefully I'll be allowed a long enough leash to at least look up steps for NVC.

Peace out and good luck to all of you.

Well, you can't entertain him all day....

Almost divorced today. FML

Oh no!

Tonight is the end to an awkward and tiring couple of days. I had to deal with a lot of emotions from being in Stockholm and Sweden again that I didn't really want to. My daughter didn't miss us at all when we were gone and I have to leave behind the best in-laws ever soon.

Also, being in Sweden made me really really pissed that the Dane couldn't just suck it up and live there for me and that it had to be Denmark or America because his stupid centuries old feud hatred won't allow him to just like Sweden. It is pretty, they drive normal cars and it isn't a matter of having a car or a house there, and men actually hold open doors and people are nice. @*($*(@*$)@($*(@**@*@(@(

Why didn't I stay with the Swede? Actually we had a conversation about this on the ride back home - mostly the answer is the Dane is the love of my life and I couldn't find anyone more perfect. :luv: Too much sugar for the thread?

He dozed off in the car in Sweden and almost killed us both.

Enough rant?

I've always really wanted to go to Sweden for some reason. Do Danes have something against Sweden, or is it just your Dane that doesn't like it there? Ecuadorians are like that with Peruvians for some reason. Maybe I'm being a little racist but I think their cultures are really similar (kinda like US/Canada) so I don't see what all the hubub is about. whistling.gif

Glad everything went well and you made it home without your husband killing you in a terrible car accident. smile.gif

I was coming on here to rant about running out of heating oil YET AGAIN, but seeing KHD and NikiR's posts, I think I'll refrain.

I will say that it is a**-whipping cold here, so much so that my hands have cracked again. I'm sure I'll miss it come August in SC, but for now, give me somewhere where my baby's nose isn't pink from cold....INSIDE the house, with a fire going.

Thanks, Cary! laughing.gif You must have enjoyed that experience. Looks like a great neighborhood out there.

That was actually at the family home of one of my wife's employees. I was in the Philippines during the company anniversary and they (the company) always take a trip somewhere in Mindanao. We went to Comval and this was during a couple day stop on the way to that area. I really loved the nippa hut living style in the middle of the jungle. Much cooler than the cement homes in the city and hanging out on the porch above where the mosquitoes bite was great. Although I still prefer running water lol

Mini-Rant: I've been really down for the past couple days, what with not having water, still waiting for an interview, it being ridiculously hot, and my MIL bugging the bejesus out of me every three seconds. For some reason this morning, though, I woke up feeling a little better, enough so to clean up our apartment and not be annoyed by having to take a bucket shower. Little did I know the Ecuadorian national team had a game today against El Salvador at 4:30. mellow.gif Nothing agitates me more than listening to 10 men screaming at a soccer game, with my MIL making loud obnoxious commentary in the middle of it all, trying to fit in with a bunch of twenty-somethings. Errgghh.

Come on up to Minnesota. We know how to not run out of heating fuel. Those that don't learn soon or perish.

Rant first full day of spring, foot of snow on the ground and still not over freezing outside yet. Yesterday they mentioned on the news it was the coldest first day of spring in 49 years. Enough of the cold weather already

I'm sorry you've been feeling down. I hope that things get better for you soon. We are fixing to move in with my in-laws at the end of April. I can't say I'm much looking forward to it, since my own MIL is one of the hovering, incredibly nervous types. I love her to pieces, but I think I'm going to have to slip some Valium or Wellbutrin or something in her tea.

And speaking of football, Ireland is playing Sweden tomorrow night at 7:45. So for the only night for the next few weeks that my husband and I will have baby-free, I will be listening to him scream at the telly. Hooray. We just got finished with 6 Nations rugby and now we're back into World Cup qualifying. Now that I've told The Hubs what I'm writing, he's musing on the fact that Ecuador have a good team. And that one of their players also plays for "his" team, Glasgow Celtic. Oh, and he's upset that in your rant, you didn't include the score of the match. No worries, I smacked him in the head for you. headbonk.gif

Oh, it was ordered in time for us to have a seamless transition. However, the "same day delivery" didn't happen. Nor did the next day. So Hubs had to go to the petrol station to top us up so that we wouldn't run out completely. It did curtail the use of the radiators, so the house was considerably chillier. The driving wind and rain didn't help much, either.

Believe me, every Ecuadorian man in the country is stoked that Ecuador is so far up in the FIFA ranking, it's all I've been hearing for weeks. They've never broken the top ten before, and since Brazil is hosting the World Cup, they don't technically have to play any of the teams in their bracket to get in which is good for the rest of South America. Hubby says that there used to be an Ecuadorian that played for Celtic called Kaviedes, but he's unaware of one that currently plays, and wants to know the name. And at half time Ecuador is winning 2 - 0.

Somehow this turned into a convo between our husbands relayed between us. blink.giflaughing.gif
