RANT: I miss reading Steves posts and rants.. Can't help but wonder how he's doing.

I figured they might have made him have an accident for the insurance money.

My about me timeline is way too long. I'm looking forward to this all being over with and not updating it for a while.

When I tell my SO that im expecting my period, he goes on alert! He starts asking carefully worded questions to find out which version of me he will be dealing with for the next few days...b*tchy..sobby..emotional..cheerful.. mad at the world, where my vocabulary is enriched with a myriad of inventive cuss words!

But he is patient and understanding..he would call it surviving the perfect storm!

wawawawhat??? A woman can be just one of those things during that time? I'm going to have to have a talk with the Mrs about that. If I can figure out when its safe to do so

Maybe we need to start a memorial thread for Steve. Or betting pool on what type of accident they devised for him.

Rant my wife is acting too sweet those past two days. wondering what I'm being buttered up for?

Same here.

Hopefully he's having fun :)

Tho I have a rant of my own: I have being sick. Will go to the doctor today and probably will get the rest of the week off. Which isn't such a bad thing, but when my nose is running and coughing is painful, that's not funny at all.

This month, I mostly consist of asking my husband to tell me all of the reasons why he loves me.

He responds with 'no'

Here's my rant for the day: I swear to the Maker if I go into another shitstorm at work and find I only have one person to help me close down, I'm going to want answers to why the hell they can't get their act together.

"What's yours is mine!"

How sweet. :innocent:

It is going to take about a week to get the syphilis test results back and then the doctor has to send to the results to the embassy and then only can they issue the visa and mail it out. Minimum 2 weeks before we get the visa in the mail. *grumble*

Hail. No, I mean HAIL!!!! Golf ball and baseball sized hail. It started last night around 6 pm and at first I thought branches from a neighbour's tree were hitting the roof. I went to look and saw these golf balls hitting the ground and bouncing up - and then realized these were hitting the house. I felt sure the windows would be smashed - and am surprised they aren't. After 5 minutes of golf ball sized and larger hail, it turned to rain. I grabbed a camera to take pictures http://share.ajc.com/Media/View/3252440 and when I went to the front yard I saw my car - my new 2013 car with about 5,000 miles on it.

I took these photos (and submitted them to the Atlanta Newspaper) http://share.ajc.com/Media/View/3252479 . That is the rear window. The front is the same. The hood, the roof and the trunk are pocked marked by golf ball sized indentations. http://share.ajc.com/Media/View/3252463 The rear tail light is smashed. The insurance adjustor will be out sometime this week to view the damage. I don't know if it can be repaired or if they will decide it is a write off. I hope it can be repaired, because I bought that car with money left to me by my Dad when he passed away - and it has felt so much like his last 'gift'.

I walked around the house today and we will have to be filing an insurance claim for its repair as well. We seemed to have fared better than our neighbours who have higher profile (we are a single story house). We will probably only have to replace the siding on the chimney and part of the back of the house. The rest of the damage is nuisance type and can be replaced easily enough. I still have to check the roof to make sure there is no major damage there, although the shingles on the outside do look somewhat hail-nibbled in places Heck, you can even see the large round marks on the back concrete where the hail hit! For all of that, we seem to be in better shape than all of our neighbours many of whom will have to replace windows, back doors, siding and all of the 'surrounds'. A house half a mile from us was struck by lightning and caught fire, so all in all, we are lucky. I won't be able to get a rental car until tomorrow at the earliest because there are no cars available with all of the claims - and my request was submitted last night within 2 hours of the storm.

My feral cats seem to be ok although obviously shaken but I am also going to have to replace their food bowls, They are all plastic and are completely shattered. I will have to replace the bird feeders too. The birds are currently eating the seed off of the ground next to the broken bird feeders.

I think I am still a little bit too much in shock to rant properly, but I am sure that will come.

Be sure that they inspect your roof carefully. It's almost impossible that hail that size didn't damage your roofing especially if you have asphalt shingles. If you roof is more than 5 years old I would insist they replace it.

Thanks Operator,

We will definitely have the roof gone over carefully. It is asphalt shingles and it's 10 years old. I did an inspection from the inside - nothing fortunately broke through and there is no water anywhere so that is a good thing. I agree, though, that the shingles could not have survived that barrage undamaged. On my neighbours, where the edge of the shingles overap the roof edge by a little it looks like some creature has come by and nibbled all along the edges. This is all new to us and I don't even know where to begin on making a claim for the house. :( I guess starting with a roofer to review the damage and provide an estimate and then let the Insurance company know about this as well is the place to start.

Hi KDH,

The avatar I use is one of the ones readily available through Visa Journey - you just go to their avatar bank and click on the one you like. I know that over the years there have been a few others who have taken the same avatar. It is funny to come across a post with the avatar and read the post and think 'hey, wait! I didn't write this? What the . . . oh, yeah, someone else using the same avatar:-) ". I just felt drawn to her even before I knew who she was. She looks like I wish I did - and kind of did when I was much younger :).

Kathryn I hope you can get everything replaced quickly with little cost. Generally insurance will cover all of it, but I've found that with a roof they tend to underestimate the cost by up to a few grand. But it's cheaper than having to pay for it yourself.

I've had to drive through hail storms like that, thankfully the balls weren't quite that big, but it was still scary as heck!

non-rant:

Hubs passed his final tests at the FAA academy. He's passed new hire with flying colours with only 1 question the whole time marked incorrect (he should have asked for clarification on the question... they agreed he answered it correctly in his interpretation of the question.) WOOT WOOT! He's now a full fledged and useful member of the FAA. LOL
