RANT: My BIL keeps posting all these nauseating statuses on facebook about how he "has spent the best part of his life next to his mother's side" and "thanks mom for being such a vital part of my life" and "i wouldn't be here if one amazing woman hadn't carried me for nine months, i love you mom". HELLO, BUTTKISS. Naturally my MIL has to posted equally revolting comments like "ohh negrito, i love you so much, i'm so lucky to have such treasures in my life" and I'm going to SNAP. He is 24 years old. Get out of mommy's house, get a girlfriend, and start a real life. Mommy's boys are my biggest pet peeve EVER. If his mom didn't do his laundry, cook, and clean for him, I bet those adoring love comments would disappear real quick. dry.gif

lmao.

I'm earning interest on my savings account that is holding my immigration money.

I was like '####### is this nine cents?'

I've never earned interest before rofl

Disappointed in myself though.

Had to transfer 15 dollars from my immigration savings to my checking account because I forgot about my monthly checking fee.

DURP!

I was GOING to go to the bank and deposit my last 10 dollars to cover it.

But here's the catch.

If I deposited the last 10 dollars, then I don't have gas money to take my husband to work on Thursday lmao

No thanks, I had a stint of that due to a layoff a few years back.

No bouncing checks, don't write checks, but lots of declined payments and payments I just chose not to make.

Steve,

Sounds like your wife family side thinks that she has hit a jackpot, hooking up a rich Ang Mo Husband. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ang_mo).

So you are the 'Roberto' (sounds like carrot head in chinese saying), which they can Chop Carrot as and when they like.

*Chop Carrot (popular local slang in Singapore and Malaysia) which means someone (the carrot) who can be easily taken advantage of by another person (the chopper, which usually refers to a salesperson). Just like how easy it is for a person to chop a carrot with a knife.

I think that your wife should contribute to the household expenses / savings, no matter how small they are.

Then she will appreciate the efforts you have to put in, to manage the household financial.

As for the ungrateful sis-in-law who likes to lord over you because she is senior/older in rank, you are right to kick her to the curb. You have absolutely no obligation to continue supporting the blood suckers.

Basically, you need to make it clear that you are not a 'Roberto' and will not be treated like one :)

United states of America. Thus American. See? It does work. Or be like my hubs... 'merica! Southern boys... Sigh.

I don't think it's presumptuous at all.

It's the united states of AMERICA

It's not like it's just the UNITED STATES and I've added the america myself.

The america is IN the country name

Si, man. And, for precision's sake, one could say that he/she is from the United States and mean Mexico, si man.
Typically, in canada, I tell people i'm 'from the states'
When I meet or am corresponding with someone from Great Britain, I refer to myself as a Colonist. Come to think about it, a gastrointestinal specialist (from anywhere) could introduce himself that way, see man.

we call ourselves AMERICAN, considering the damn word "America" is in the name of our country.
In Ecu, I call myself a gringo, as they call me. In Mexico, I'm also a gringo. In Hispanic circles locally, I can be known as bolillo (white bread), si man. Edited by TBoneTX

I was going to say something like this, too, si man.

To what extent will (should) you compromise your principles on behalf of opportunists, beggars, and freeloaders who are seeking to take advantage of you?

If these people weren't "family," would you have anything to do with them? One would suspect not, no man.

I would do what's proper and be true to myself. The "family" will see that inviolable lines have been drawn. The wife will see that you're standing up and being a man, and that you're doing it for her, too. Self-respect, see man.
