buy discount clothing in the States, ship it down here to his mother, and sell it at a higher price. This is a booming business here - seriously anyone with a family member abroad does it - so I said we'd think about it.
Whatever you do, don't squeal to Correa and his taxation goons, no man.

Note for non-Ecu readers: Correa, the socialist prez of Ecu (and probably the next Chief Loco now that Chavez has croaked), raised the import taxes so high that no one can afford to buy anything down there, no man. Naturally, this courts the development of a parallel economy, $i man.

What I knew was gonna happen just happened today. I got a last minute work assignment, booked my flight, and wham! who calls me? The company I just interviewed with requesting that I come in for a second interview. Wonderful news except that I have this commitment to fulfill this assignment. So I call up my boss. He's uncooperative as usual and I feel like poking his eyes through the phone.

Dear boss:

I am not your little play employee whom you can pick up and use anytime you feel like it. I always commit to an assignment even when you give me less than 24 hours notice and I have to cancel a million things just to make it work. You respond by humiliating me weekly, constantly exerting your power over me through pointless passive aggressive text messages and emails, refusing to give me a clear answer when I request time off WELL in advance, and then becoming disgruntled because I have an interview and it threw a monkey wrench into your profit-making plans. Did you forget that you threw me to the dogs the day you made me a temp employee? You can't possibly be that dense to think that I would not be looking to get out of this hell hole of a company. You told me that you would hire me back on as a full time employee when work picked up in the office. Only recently I discovered that this was a blatant lie and you are never going to reinstate my full time status.

Sincerely,

Your garbage temp

I'm seriously this close to quitting. I can't even explain to you the level of humiliation It's just little things that have snowballed over the last few months. I was at that office space when it first opened. I helped put that office furniture together and I ordered all of those appliances. Now I get to see my own former office that belonged to me when I was a full time employee slowly be turned into a storage space, my personal things shuffled and put unorganized into a box while I watch everyone's else offices build up and look like someone actually works in them. The most humiliating thing was one day when I showed up in the office and my computer chair with wheels was removed and replaced with a cheap uncomfortable one without wheels. Guess I'm not important enough to get a real chair. The whole company also treats their temp staff like garbage. You know in high school when you played sports and the seniors made all the freshman do all of the tasks that nobody else wanted to do? Yeah, like that. They treat their temps like they are less intelligent and are only there to do mindless tasks that the full time employees are too "good" to do. If you request to actually be taught something or learn something new you're denied the opportunity. I also see a ridiculous absurd amount of plants and fish in the office over the past few months. So they have money to spent on this aesthetic stuff but don't have the funds to maintain my payroll? ranting33va.gifI'm afraid if I quit I will lose my unemployment even if they are making it difficult for me to find a new job. .

I am the petitioner.

That's terrible SingSing.......

Sorry to be a buzzkill. I didn't mean to turn this thread into a melancholy fest.

Here's a real rant:

Dear U.S. Government,

Why does an employee have to be laid off to receive unemployment compensation benefits? Sometimes people quit for their own sanity and they should not be forced onto the streets when their paychecks run dry. It's the same with termination. Terminations don't always equate to a person being a poor worker.

I am the petitioner.

I kinda realize where my mistake was btw..........

In attempting to help Tiff's siblings get a B2 visa, I sent them each an I-134 package as supporting documents.

In it, is listed my income and assets..............

That might have been it. They might not realize that such a salary doesn't go far when living in NYC.

I saw my ex-MIL's tax return one year. I almost fainted when I saw it was in the 7 figures, mostly because they were so cheap with their son.

My mom, who is joint sponsoring, made me promise not to show my husband or anyone else besides the CO her tax returns.

Anyone can see mine 'cuz I poor.

rant... the F******** heater in my car is NOT working AGAIN! Last time I fixed this by simply adding coolant. I'm hoping it's that easy this time by why it should be out of coolant is beyond me. There is just so many things that are starting to go wrong with it. I just need it to last until I move, then I'll drop it off at some second hand dealership and take whatever they give me for the beast. I'm pissed that my ex didn't want to buy a new vehicle FOREVER and then after I leave he puts out on a 47K truck, has it lifted, big tires put on, skid bars and now a huge winch with lights. A**hole. I revel in the fact that my Jeep in Colorado can go places his truck will never fit and go up ###### his truck never will. Even though he's in a "4x4 club for Toyota owners." What a pretenious thing. But then he's a pretenious person.

Ya know how you guys complain about "giving" your family things and money. His family is NOT like that. One of the main reasons I'm glad I'm not in it anymore. His parents "sold" him their old couches, and he's "sold" things to his sisters. They're all money grubbing.... BLANKS.... I honestly feel that I could be happy living in a trailer, barely making it by as long as I had my husband and daughter right there. I've lived that with my mom and some of those times are the happiest in my life. I didn't get new shoes and only one new outfit for school in Sept from the cheap store. Heck hand me downs were awesome! New clothes for me! But I think the sense of "having" in the world is entirely over blown. Everyone wants stuff and aren't happy with just being alive and with their loved ones. I'll admit, it's super nice to go on 2 week long trips to Hawaii or ski vacations in BC. But it's the time I spend walking hand in hand with my husband, or taking my daughter to feed the ducks, that makes me the happiest and most content person. I wish everyone could feel that way. If they could, Steve wouldn't be fighting with Tiff about money for her sister because her sister would be happy with what she has and grateful, vs always wanting more. It's human nature to want more, I get that, but giving people everything makes them not appreciate as much as when it's earned.

So I'm happy to have a car. I could be taking the bus everywhere. I would like the heater to work because I do live in Canada and it's cold. But if it breaks, I'll bundle up more. I'm annoyed at my ex for spending his money on stuff, but in truth, it's his money and things have always made him happy. That's why he didn't make me happy.

There... i'm calm and okay again.

My husband is the same way with his sister. He loves her and helps her out, but doesn't think she should get any of our stuff for free. It is pretty common here that people don't get or give a lot financially within the family. They think it breeds independence or something.

Money is nice, but it does bring its problems.

I do sincerely appreciate my truck after not having a car for 7 months.

____

I have a headache this morning and had to listen to my daughter scream because my husband moved one of her things, scream like a banshee when I brushed her hair, and now scream because she can't have chocolate for breakfast.

This day is going well. :dead:

Aw Nola. Remember it's probably the stress of the upcoming change that is hard on her. She can't see so far ahead as to know that it's better, just that it's stressful right now and she doesn't like it.

Rant: computer won't connect to internet via cable but will via wireless... #######?! Sounds like a virus. Installing anti-virus ASAP. I don't want to format again. :( Just did it in Oct.

Yeah, she is a good kid, but just has some normal bad days, yah know? I think she'll be a lot better when she's got friends to play with all day and things to do. She's probably just bored out her mind with me.
