Rant:

My dearest MIL,

Contrary to what you seem to believe, you do not know everything. In fact, most things you claim to know and most advice you give is #######. Stop trying to pretend you are an expert on everything. It's obnoxious and makes me want to rip my ears off. No, you do not know how to get my husband his visa "faster" than I can. You do not know what vaccinations he needs, or what doctor he can go to for his interview medical appointment. I don't care if your second cousin is a great doctor, he is NOT board certified and will NOT be accepted at the interview. You know nothing about the process, at all. Accept it. You are also not a doctor, and cannot prescribe me medicine or tell me what I can and cannot eat. I don't care if I have a cough, I will drink all the goddamn orange juice I want. And if you say "well that's a shame for you" one more FREAKING time, I swear to CHRIST, someone is going to die. The fact that I don't want to eat whatever leftovers are in the fridge is NOT A SHAME FOR ME. I am NOT hungry. You can't force me to eat. I'm not one of your children that you can boss around.

By the way - your laugh is obnoxious. Shut up, please. Actually, on second thought, stop talking altogether. Your voice makes me shudder these days.

Sincerely,

Your suicidal DIL.

Well thanks to miscommunication, I no longer have to go to Alabama. Instead I leave for Texas on Monday morning.

Which leaves me on a mad dash to get everything done before I leave. Just filed my taxes. Got an awesome refund too which will promptly go into immigration fees  . Next I have to mail all these applications for my husband's British and Thai police certificates. Hopefully when I'm down in the Lone Star state, we will get our NVC case # and I can e-file our DS-3032 form.

My perfectionist brain loves when things fall into place. dry.gif

most people consider "la cucaracha" to be a child's song
The melody can be used to serenade one's newly naturalized wife, see man:

Ciudadana, ciudadana,

Puede joder esposo;

Ciudadana, ciudadana --

Americana siempre.

(Female citizen, female citizen,

Able to nag husband;

female citizen, female citizen --

an American female forever.)

Or something like that, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

Nearly every latino on the face of the Earth is critical of the Arizona gov't. When they passed those laws, people down here went WILD. You'd have thought they were collecting the illegals to burn alive or something.
Quadruple si, man. I wish that I could follow the reports & discussions on Univision and Telemundo; their heated nature would probably make my head spontaneously combust.
RANT: People who make a whole new thread saying "I just got my NOA2, how long until my interview??" Are these people incapable of READING? :bonk: They can't even go to the NVC thread to ask their dumb questions, but have to fill up the whole board with their pointless topics. Jeez.
Watch it -- another member of this thread seems to be highly intolerant of advice from experienced members, sigh man.
So... I'm curious to know... how many of you post on forums on other sites? And just how many posts do you have there?
Check out http://www.parenthelpforums.com

A few, see man.

you think I could learn to drive a manual in Sweden?

for all the girls on this thread, what did you get your special guy?

and for all the guys, what do you like getting?

I do cufflinks for The Hubs. I've gotten him Celtic FC ones, a pair that look like pints of Guinness, and old-timey Irish pennies set into gold. He loves them. He gets a pair every Christmas. And Cuban cigars. :)

I got him an engagement ring.

In general though, my husband likes practical things - power tools, tools, computer parts, etc. He'd probably prefer a circular saw with a bow on it rather than anything else.

We are waiting a call back from the panel physician, but it seems like it would be cheaper and better to just get the MMR and Dtap shots, even though he had a booster last year, no one seems to have a record of it.

Is there public health in Denmark? Maybe the equivalent of a health unit where people normally take their kids for vaccines?

They did record the vaccinations received by children after 2000 electronically, but these were obviously before that. The doctor who gave him these vaccines and still sees him doesn't even have a record. Any immigration or travel related vaccines are to be paid by the person themselves, so that is that. It isn't that expensive to get the 3 vaccines for MMR, dtap, and flu, so we'll just suck it up if that is it.

I love power tools. but I wouldn't expect my wife to know a good one from a piece of garbage. But for a sentimental gift, its not the thing.

My wife never had a vaccination in here life until she went to the medical. There was no worry of finding old records and she just got everything there. Might be why two of her siblings didn't survive to adulthood.

We don't really do sentimental, but I think that is a cultural thing. I even had to pick out my own engagement ring (which was appreciated because I'm picky).

That is sad, I'm sorry to hear of her losses. :(

I'm thinking that it won't be a big deal, but I wish he would have figured this out weeks ago when I asked him to get the vaccination records.
