Opinions -- Call to CSC?

My NOA2 date is 08/25/06 and I have seen any updates to the status of my case since 08/31/06. I am now seeing people with NOA2 dates in September indicating they have received an RFE or NOA2. Is it worth calling the CSC to inquire why there is no evidence that my case is being reviewed? If I call, any suggestions on how to navigate the system to get answers?

Thanks all.

That means you have not been touched or anything for more than 60 days. Yes i would call to see what the status is on your case. I am not sure how you would go about navigating the system to make sure you speak to a representative maybe others who are going through CSC can answer that question for you, but YES for sure i would call them. Just my opinion. I wish you a successful journey and a speedy approval.

 Welcome to our own private hell my friend. My N0A1 date is 10 August and I haven't heard tiddly.. no RFE, no N0A2, no touches. NOTHING!!!! You can't call CSC directly but you can call the 800 help line. But they won't offer you any help... at least they didn't offer me anything but more frustration. I called them two weeks ago to inquire about my petition. It took over 40 minutes of listening to different recorded messages as I navigated through their phone system. I finally got a live person, but she wasn't helpful at all. She told me that my case was not yet 6 months old and that I shouldn't call them back until then. She said that CSC had 6 months to process my petition and that CSC worked the cases as they got them. I told her that many petitions had already been approved that had gone to CSC well after my N0A1 date. She didn't care. She told me that she didn't have CSC information and didn't know how CSC operated. She told me that she could only tell me that I was not yet beyond the time allocated to USCIS to process my type of petition. She said that I could write a letter to CSC with my questions or if I felt that I had a grievance to file against CSC then she could give me an address to send my complaints to. All I want to know is WHY are September petitions being approved when there are still March, April, May, June, July and August petitions still waiting. No one can tell you why. Everyone online here at VJ tells me to be patient and my time will come. That's easy to say when you already have your N0A2 in your hand. I don't know if my case is lost, misplaced, in name check, or is just gathering dust in some corner. I would guess you feel the same about your petition? Is there anything unusual about your petition such as you having several divorces... your fiance having divorces... Is this your first K-1 petition or have you submitted a

K-1 previous to your current one? Do you have a police record? I've been trying to figure out what may be holding up my case. To be honest, I'm clueless and very frustrated. One person who filed at the same time as me and had the same N0A1 date as me.. has already gone through the system and has an appointment date at the embassy. So totally ticked off about all of this. Of the 100 applications filed at CSC and put on VJ... all have received their N0A2 approvals except for 10 of us who are still waiting.

You say NOA2 in your note do you have NOA2 or don't you? A lot of times they wont touch a case for months until just before NOA2. They have up to 6 months to process the case and calling them wont get any info from them. They have to wait on name checks.

Make that 11 cause I have filed on Aug 15, received NOA 1 Aug 17, and still waiting, 86 days and still freakin waiting. This is completely aggravating because not only am I still waiting for the approval, but there is a chance that we are going to wait about 20-24 months before they even give us an interview date. ####### (sorry) but I know EXACTLY how you feel. Sorry.. I meant to say 11 including myself. I'm sick and tired of this because people are now getting approved in September.. and the way it's going they'll be approving October before they get to us. I also thought name checks were for NVC to do... but apparently CSC can do them too... and then guess what? When you do finally get to NVC and NVC wants to do a name check too... then the process starts over again. NVC doesn't usually accept the CSC name check. One guy waited 7 months at CSC because of name checks. When his application got to NVC he had to wait another 7 months for another name check. Someone needs their arses kicked for making this process suck so badly. Oh.. by the way, do you have anything odd or unusual about your application that might be holding it up? Such as prior submissions of a K-1 before this one? Many divorces? Criminal record?

There is no way to contact CSC and it would not be worth your effort to call the USCIS customer service number because they see the same thing you see online and they will not investigate until six months have passed from your NOA1 date.

Some cases never get touched - changes to your online status are NOT an accurate indication of activity on your case.

Your NOA2 will come - best to sit back and wait a while longer.

Oh.. by the way, do you have anything odd or unusual about your application that might be holding it up? Such as prior submissions of a K-1 before this one? Many divorces? Criminal record?

I figure I'll pop in here with my fellow August friends with my angst. My case should be incredibly straight forward. A lower risk fraud country, I'd assume. No divorces, no children, no criminal record, no previous visa applications. I didn't send them boatloads of evidence, there was probably 5 easy to read pages of boarding passes and the like, with about 5 pictures attached to that, and a few other small things. So it shouldn't take more than a day to review. We've met several times so there shouldn't be any reason for them to think we haven't met with all the proof we provided. My absolute only thought is that somehow we're in a name check as he's got a somewhat common names. Not quite a Bob Jones, but common enough.

I know we probably just have to continue 'being patient' and for all we know we're right around the corner and will all be approved on Monday, but lately my thought of 'It's coming so soon' has become quite the opposite.

I imagine I'm not the only one who's hopes got up a few weeks back when there were absolute tons of people with early/mid August approvals, then it slowed down to a steady trickle of mid/late approvals... and then when the Septembers started getting approved, I started to worry. I kept telling myself I wouldn't start worrying, at first, until the days we'd been waiting hit 'above average'. When that happened, I told myself that I wouldn't let myself worry until we were above the person who had been taken the longest in August so far (Not accounting those of you who are still in this boat with me). Using Gary and Luz's list, at that time, it was something like 60 days. That passed, and I'm having a hard time finding a way to keep telling myself 'just a little bit longer'.

Either way, I know this is of no current help to any of us, but I guess what I do is just try to remember that several other people had a much longer and frustrating wait before us, so we can handle waiting a few extra weeks if that's what it takes. We aren't alone, and things could be a lot worse :) So lets try to keep our heads up and not give up yet.

Unfortunately, none of that matters when they are currently processing May applications. Yes, others have applied after you and been approved - it happens. But it has only been 3 months and pre-IMBRA 90-120 days was more or less typical. Hang in there - you're right - it could be a lot worse (see my timeline) and while that doesn't help, you know you are almost there.

August and you are worried? I am still waiting from March with no information, no touches. Calls to the 800 number all they can do is send a email to the CSC and then they send you a letter saying dont call them for 6 months they are working on your file. Try to be a little more patient. And I can say that because I dont have an approval in my hands either.

pre-IMBRA 90-120 days was more or less typical.

Yes, and none of us are pre-IMBRA. It's all relative regarding that. If I was pre-IMBRA, or anywhere closer to where IMBRA was affecting things, and over 100 days, I probably wouldn't be complaining because it would be 'the norm' for that. We all know they aren't currently processing May applications on the whole, that is their 'cushion'. I'd buy it if it said July, because I have seen a fair share of July approvals recently scattered in with Augusts and Septembers.

Studies are showing, at least here on VJ, that things have obviously picked up, and there are just a few of us who are for some reason being left behind. At least the IMBRA folks had some sort of idea what was slowing them down with regards to the IMBRA RFEs. Of course, there was no rhyme or reason how they were sending those out, but at least they knew what it was.

And, I'm sure I'll be yelled at for this, but again, it's all relative-- Ruthanne, though I can't say I'd be any happier if I was in your place, again, and I'm genuinely sorry you're still waiting, at least you know a tiny part of what has thrown your approval off schedule, and at least you have options now to try to find out what's going on, with regards to your senator and whatnot, and you being over 6 months. I know that doesn't help when your senator may be useless, or whatever your situation may be, but at this point to me, I'd be happier having some clue of what was slowing it down.

Again, though, that's relative, and maybe if/when I am 8 months into being screwed, that information won't be of any usefulness to me.

I think a lot of the issues here on VJ with the 'who's allowed to complain/what people are allowed to complain about' is due to the fact that it seems like every month there's a change. People who filed in June pre-imbra can't be compared to people who applied in July (a mix) who can't be compared to people who filed in August (post imbra), and on and on. There's not a whole lot of putting each other in each others shoes going on, or people remembering exactly how they felt when they were in the same situation, because there is no real 'same' situation at this point in time.

*shrug* I'm just trying to see this from both sides as much as possible, while still being true to myself. I'm not denying that I'm impatient, but I think I have a right to be, at least at this point in time. I'm not going to argue over 'who's allowed to be more impatient/upset'.

Just for comparison.

this is my second K1. i filed a K1 last year on March 1, got receipt dated March 3. NOA1.

On April 19 i got NOA2.

by October 13, my fiancee had her visa in her hand.

so about 8 months total time.

that was filed with Nebraska and went to Manila.

my second K1 i filed Sept 1, got receipt dated Sept 11. and they sent it

to CSC. have not received anything since.

when i become president, i will change this law.

go meet her, marry her, bring her home same day.

instead of making you wait up front, give a 2 year probation period

that you must check in periodically with uscis to make sure your

still together. if you break up, then deal with it.

anyone else got any bright ideas?

so about 8 months total time.

that was filed with Nebraska and went to Manila.

my second K1 i filed Sept 1, got receipt dated Sept 11. and they sent it

to CSC. have not received anything since.

when i become president, i will change this law.

go meet her, marry her, bring her home same day.

instead of making you wait up front, give a 2 year probation period

that you must check in periodically with uscis to make sure your

still together. if you break up, then deal with it.

anyone else got any bright ideas?

Here is another comparision for you. Take a look at my !@#$*& ing signature. 190 days from NOA1 and nothing. So you just never know for sure. I mean August filing??? I'm sorry but give me a freaking break. Should they move that fast. Yes. Can they move that fast? Yes. Can they pretend you don't even excist for over 6 months? Yes. So to answer your question. Give them a call and all they will do is read your case status from their website. Or you can save the time, log on and read it to yourself. Thanks for letting me rant a little. Sheryl and I are just really missing each other lately. :(

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
