How in the hell is that disrespectful? I could see if I was referring to one particular group as "those people" but I wasn't. I was referring to MANY groups. 53% of the country, actually.

I said "They didn't get their votes, reach out to those people" ... there's not a damn thing disrespectful about that.

Of all the offensive sh*t that gets thrown around here on a daily basis, you guys sure know how to take something innocent and turn it the other way. Yikes.

In America, "you people" and "those people" are considered disrespectful.\

Here's some background reading from a website maintained by the Connecticut Community Colleges if you're interested - http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/unbiased.htm

Ridiculous. Context matters.

I did not say "those people" in a derogatory or disrespectful manner.

Funny now name calling is permitted (and even celebrated) but this? THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE.

No one is saying it was unacceptable. If it was, you'd have been subjected to moderator action by now.

Whatever you say.

not too long ago i said something about 'calling a spade a spade' and promptly got my chit jumped for being racist. and i had no idea that was racist.

context matters and intent matters, you people are too fussy!

Considering the outright offensive things people say (and don't get called out on), the things people choose to focus on will always confuse me.

What?? The "spade is a spade" saying was introduced into the English language in the 1500s and even that was taken from a translation dating back to BC times (yeah I googled).. How is that racial?

I went back and read what she wrote, I'm not seeing anything but an observation. When did we all get so nit-picky here?
