AOS approved yesterday.....here's my experience!

I met husband online when I was in high school, and I came here for college.

We dated since the day we met and got married 2 yrs later in Dec 2003.

Didn't file for AOS till Aug 29, 2006.

I got my biometrics about two weeks after the day I sent the AOS package to Chicago lockbox,

and interview notice received at the beginning of Oct, and was scheduled and approved on Nov 9, 2006.

The total process took around 70 days.

Here is my interview experience to share with everyone.

My husband and I were waiting in the lobby of the SLC office.

At 10:40, we got called in.

The officer asked us to swear we're telling the truth in his office, then we were asked to sit down.

He first asked for our ID cards and my passport.

The first thing he did was taking away my I-94 white card.

Then he asked about the date of marriage and my ssn#.

The officer started to chat with my hubby cuz he used to work at the same job in the airport. It continued for around 10 mins, then he started to review documents they have.

He reviewed AOS and other sent documents, and asked for "joint assets with both our names on."

We gave him joint bank acct, rental lease, car title, car insurance, joint savings acct, timeshare purchase, and health insurance.

Then he wrote something on my application, and told me that I'm approved!! YAY!!

He didn't stamp my passport cuz he said the green card will arrive in 1 week or 2.

Didn't ask for any pix, or other kinda evidence, and therefore I think joint assets and the way you talk the officer is the key to be approved.

04/28/05 Visited fiancee for the 1st time

08/07/05 Visited fiancee for the 2nd time

08/09/05 Got engaged

08/27/05 Submitted K1 to CSC

08/30/05 CSC received I-129F packet

08/31/05 Received NOA1 in mail

09/02/05 Check cashed

09/03/05 Received NOA1 via snail mail

09/03/05 Enrolled for email notification

10/21/05 Approved!! NOA2.

10/24/05 Received email stating NOA2 mailed out.

10/28/05 Waiting to hear from NVC.

11/05/05 Waiting to hear from NVC.

11/?/05 NVC case number issued. MNL2005807XXX.

11/08/05 Petition send to MNL.

11/19/05 MNL received our petition from NVC.

01/26/06 MNL Embassy mails out interview packet

02/11/06 Visited fiancee for the 3rd time

02/21/06 Received Interview Packet from MNL Embassy

03/14/06 Medical

03/30/06 Interview

04/04/06 Visa is released to Delbros for delivery

04/05/06 Visa in hand

05/24/06 Entered the U.S. (@ LAX POE)

08/20/06 Married

Our AOS Timeline:

10/02/06 Submitted our AOS to Chicago

10/13/06 Received NOA1 for AOS and EAD

10/17/06 Received Bio. Appt. letter for AOS and EAD

10/25/06 Biometrics Appt. for AOS and EAD

11/02/06 Received Appt. Letter

12/11/06 AOS Appt. (Approved!)

12/22/06 Received G.C. (2 yrs)

My story:

09/23/2002 - Met Chris online, there was something very special about this guy =0)

07/16/2006 - We got married in Reno, Nevada.

USCIS:

08/13/2006 - Filed for AOS, AP, EAD - they were VERY carefully packaged with a detailed cover sheet on top of each of the forms, just as VJ's instructions recommend. It was A LOT of work, but it did pay off! (we firmly believe this is what sped up our process big time)

08/31/2006 - Biometrics appointment

09/09/2006 - Received my AOS appointment date!

10/26/2006 - EAD touched and AP APPROVED!

10/27/2006 - AOS appointment at 7:30 AM! APPROVED IN EXACTLY 70 DAYS!!!

11/01/2006 - EAD approved

11/02/2006 - Email notification - greencard will be mailed as soon as it is ready! YAY again!

11/02/2006 - Welcome to the United States of America letter in the mail! Almost there! =)

11/06/2006 - EAD card and White card (a.k.a. greencard) arrive in the mail!

Journey Total Duration: 80 days

Filed for removal of conditions on 07-28-2008 and had them removed on 09-10-2008

I also carefully packaged everything with a very organized cover letter stating all items for each form.

Maybe that's the key to fast service!!

March 31- I-485 touched.

April 3- got letter in mail saying Initial interview on May 15.

interview came way too fast..

approved 2 yr card on july 2007

Feb10 - mailed out I-751 to CSC

Feb20 - did biometrics

10 year GC Approved - APRIL 16th ,2009 - Peggy and Jonathan's......

Still waiting for our cards...Had to file I-90 as they sent them to the wrong address.

March 9th, 2010, Received GC that has been lost in the mail for 10 months. Still waiting for my son's that is lost as well.

Filed Waiver for my son's 10 year GC and it was approved. He finally received his GC after its been missing for 2 years.

Thanking God this is over for 10 years.

December 13, 2007 - I-751 submitted to NSC (removing of conditions fun begins...)

December 22 - Received a rejection notice because the form was not "properly signed". Package itself was not returned.

January 1, 2008 - Received packet back from CSC. They are requesting we resubmit the packet (which is already organized by CSC) with a properly signed form.

January 2 - Packet resubmitted to California.

January 12 - NOA1 received (dated 01/07/2008)

January 19 - Biometrics appointment notice received (dated 01/15/2008)

February 1 - Biometrics

March 11 - Approved! Card production ordered (notified via e-mail).

March 20, 2008 - New card arrived in the mail :)

Done until 2018 :)

Congratz!! I have a quick question I want to E-file.......Has anyone done this before......Is it any faster?? Or is it better to drop off in person?? Seeing all these experiences of 70 days make me want to mail it to Chicago. Can anyone please give me their input??
