She, along with nuts that think evolution does not exist, are the main reason government should stay out of health care.

She keeps getting re-elected because her district is one of those gerrymandered to provide a pre determined number of black faces in congress and diminish the political power of blacks. She is, in fact, participating in the problem.

She is a disrespected, impotent nut case with about -0- political power. Rather than increase the potential of black Americans, she decreases it...which was the plan when the white politicians that "freed her" created the black districts to limit the power of blacks in congress.

It is ironic that Nugent, a board member of the much more politically potent NRA would hug Jackson-Lee. The NRA, by being part of the political process "at large" and not confined into a few "safe districts" has more power with 5 million members (.016% of the population)than African Americans have with 12% of the population. Districts are gerrymandered to eliminate the influence of blacks from as many districts as possible and replace that with ONE black face. It is only slightly less racist and disturbing than demanding all blacks live in one place. When segregation did not work to make blacks live in one place and whites in another, they simply drew lines around the races so that, in congressional elections, they DO live all in one place. 12% of the population is more than the margin of victory in most congressional districts. In theory, blacks could strongly influence nearly every congresional election in the country.

On second thought, it is MORE racist and disturbing than segregation. It is also more blatant and contrived.

The Senate, elected "at large", has many less black faces as a percentage of the chamber but blacks have much more sway in the Senate where they are a potent force in ALL the elections for members.

Jackson-Lee is part of the reason blacks have so little political power. Now, if I were a racist, and I am definitely NOT, I would just LOVE Sheila Jackson-Lee.

Two days ago, Nugent, a conservative gun-rights activist, made headlines when he hugged liberal Houston Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee, the only Texas lawmaker who has received contributions from gun-control interests, after the State of the Union address.

Today, Limbaugh showed no such generosity. A day after the outspoken Texas congresswoman praised Abraham Lincoln’s efforts that resulted in her being a “freed slave,” the outspoken conservative radio personality mocked her.

“We will keep looking to try to find out who owned her, who sold her, and what they got,” the Excellence in Broadcasting founder declared on his radio show. “I have to tell you, though, in all candor, I think she looks pretty good for her age. She’s got to be over 110. You’d never know it.”

The Hill reported yesterday that Jackson Lee warned colleagues that the across-the-board budget cuts known as “sequester” would devastate the U.S. economy. She said lawmakers should take inspiration from Lincoln’s leadership during the Civil War, adding:

“I stand here as a freed slave because this Congress came together. Are we going to be able to do it today to free America?”

Jackson Lee and Limbaugh have tangled for years. When Limbaugh tried to buy a share of the National Football League’s St. Louis Rams, Jackson Lee took to the House floor to denounce him as racially insensitive. Limbaugh has mocked Jackson Lee for numerous statements, particularly a quotation attributed to her about humans walking on Mars.

Here’s Limbaugh’s complete riff:

The dimwit ####### is from New York. When was the last time New York had slavery again? The legislature spent weeks building the donut around Houston that covered enough bad neighborhoods and school districts to get her electorate represented. She should announce that she stands before congress as a result of affirmative action by the Texas legislature, not because she got freed (from New York) as a slave.

Trouble was, the targeted recipient of that House seat, a Hispanic (whose name escapes me right now), got into political or legal hot water. Gene Green, a (shudder!) white dude, was elected. He's been re-elected several times. He's a Democrat but not super-liberal.

Affirmative action districting is not gerrymandering. It gives people representation who otherwise would not have had a voice, even if they had to import (buy?) one from New York. Summary: She was sold to Texas by New Yorkers and Texas has freed her and given her unlimited rights to say stupid things in front of TV cameras..
