How do you know when processing resumes?

Hi everyone, we just got confirmation that our RFE response was received (return receipt). How do you know when processing has resumed on your case? The online status system has been very, very off in the past and not always updated. Do you receive something written in the mail?

They don't send anything to notify you of resumed processing on the case.

You will either receive another RFE or a case complete. Those are the only 2 ways of finding out.

no, the OP will either get an approval or a denial. Case complete is not at the USCIS stage, it is at the NVC. To the OP, there is no way of knowing when they will resume you case. Good luck!!!

The approval/Denial is what I meant by case complete. Just have NVC on the brain.

Thanks for your helpful responses! Although it is a pity to know that there will be much anxiety in the next waiting phase....I would have liked a "case resumed" notification or something to that affect!

Before mailing, we brought our RFE response packet to an immigration lawyer and also had an INFOPASS appointment to go over all over our contents with an immigration officer.

I guess it's another round of anxious waiting!

Just received this notification from USCIS via email:

Your Case Status: Request for Evidence Response Review

On February 15, 2013, we received your response to our request for evidence. This case is being processed at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed, in which case you can use the processing time information on our website to estimate when this case will be done. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Yes.Or an update of your case, such as a transfer to your local office and notice of interview, Either way, it all ends in a decision on your case soon.

I wouldn't exactly say soon..... we are in the exact same position, but our update has 16 August as the date, so exact same thing but 6 months earlier. after 60 days we called and was told they were only processing May applications.. In January, when we were sure we were past the standard processing timeframe, we called again and a week later received the leter stating that they were still reviewing and if we didn't hear anything after 6 (more) months, to contact them again.

I wrote my Congressperson and that office said they would get to the bottom of it, and we haven't heard any thing from them. That was 2 weeks or so ago...

so to answer your bolded question, no. it does not mean you will hear anything in the next 60 days (or 6 months) for that matter... for some reaason, there is a big backlog at NBC.
