Medical Exam for Interview: Too Early?

When is it too early to get the medical exam? I told my spouse (Japanese) of the information (accepted hospitals and doctors) and that she would have to do it sometime next month, but she went ahead and did it already. We just got the IV fee invoice, have sent in the AOS (i-864), but won't send in the IV (DS-230) until Feb 23. So, I'm guessing she's at least 2 months out from an interview. Will this medical exam hold up till then? I sure hope so, because it cost over $750, she said.

Some places the medical results are good for 6 months, some places a year. She should be OK provided she travels within that time.

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

15 May 2014: Received formal residency/work permission (GNIB card with Stamp 4, one year renewable) for the ROI

Thanks. I went to the Tokyo embassy website and found the information that confirms what you said: 6 months.

"Medical examinations conducted in connection with immigrant visa applications have a maximum validity of six months and must be valid when you enter the U.S. The consular officer shall limit the visa’s validity to a period of validity of the medical examination. If the alien cannot arrive in the United States within six months of the date of the medical examination, the alien must repeat the examination."

To add to that, the embassy does say not to schedule the exam before the interview is scheduled, which my spouse did, as in some cases the results can expire within 3 months.

"You should not have your exam until your interview has been scheduled.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Medical examination results are valid for six months in normal circumstances. But if you have certain medical conditions, your examination results could expire in as little as three months"

01/08/2013: Case # and IIN assigned ( file arrived NVC mail room 12/20/12)
01/09/2013: AOS invoiced and paid, DS-3032 emailed and mailed.
01/16/2013: IV invoiced &paid. AOS & IV mailed in one package(arrived 01/18).
01/28/2013: Case complete!!!
04/19/2013: Interview; APPROVED!!!!!
