Hi, I filed my 601 waiver through the lockbox and they received in Nebraska on Dec 7, its been a little more than 2 months now and I want to know by when I should get a decision on my case? My lawyer said that my husband being in the military for five years and now an Iraq vet would help to get an approval, is that true? We've been married for five years now and I miss him so much :(!

Hi - I am not an expert by any means but I can give you an idea on the time frame. My wife and I are in a similar situation. Her I601 was received in Nebraska on Sept 17. The normal processing time is 4 months according to the USCIS website but nobody has had their decision in less than 5 months and usually it is closer to 6 months. I am not sure about the military part that you mentioned but everytime I call the customer service # they ask if either of us are in the military so it probably will be faster for you. You should call the customer service number that is on your receipt and ask them what the normal processing time is and when they ask you if you are military, tell them yes and ask if this will make your processing time faster. As we were approaching the 4 months, I called everyday. Finally I called my Senators office and now they are involved. I was told last week that everything should be completed by Feb 28. I hope this helps. Also, I will let you know what happens with us and if there is anything else that I think can help you. Good Luck! You will hear something positive soon.

Ray
