Oh, I dunno really. But good to hear. :)

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

Tried to edit but I was too late- Found this after a quick search. Seems airplanes are pressurized so it does not have the same impact as being somewhere at 10,000 feet. Duh on me. http://www.krdotv.com/story.cfm?nav=news&storyID=1054

thanks for sharing this- again- always amazed at the things I learn on VJ

Ah thanks. Makes sense of course.

My excuse is that it's still early in the morning. :P

Even though I read about it last night.

Morning. Just sippin' my tea here 'cause I'm out of coffee. :crying:

Kids are watching the Sponge Bob movie for the bazillionth time.

My mom called me early this morning to ask if I could return a book she gave me a few years ago. I couldn't find it and told her I'd buy another one and she said don't bother...."I was just wanting to get it back since I don't think you'll be alive after January". Niiiiiice. Still thinks I'm gonna be taken hostage on my trip.

My brother called and wants me to take a picture of me pickin' the sphynx's nose.

Happy belated birthday Amera...it sounds like it was wonderful!!! I used to get premature contractions a lot with my second baby. Definitely keep well hydrated. I can't even tell you the amount of times I used to be hooked up to the iv and then miraculously the contractions would go away. How far along are you?

Melly I got a Sansa mp3 player on ebay, but I haven't used it yet. I sure hope it works on the plane since that's why I bought it!

I have no idea what we're going to do today. It's really nice outside, but the kids have no desire to go out.

Well yippee skippy I woke up with full blown flu. Thank GOD it waited for the weekend. Its cold, raining and windy here and I had to run to Wally World for cold meds, tissues, oranges, orange juice and all that good stuff while the world tilted and swayed. :dead: Now I'm home, warm, medicated, and ready to grab my pillow, blanket and a movie.

Mohammed is really sick too. Poor thing.

You gals preparing to travel, bolster your immune systems. Seems its really going around Egypt too.

Yes I know what you mean! Sometimes I forget because our son is 2 - almost 3 and drives me CRAZY somedays (ok let's not lie most days!). But there are times when he does something or gives me a hug or I just see him playing or sitting on the couch and I just melt down inside. btw. sponge bob is a fav in our house too. Youssef thinks he's soo funny looking and calls him Sponge pants ('cus that's the only part of his name he can remember!

Ok, I want to know how Mohammed gave you that flu all the way from Egypt! They keep telling us you can't catch things over the internet, or get pregnant that way, but maybe you guys have found the secret. Just think, you could patent it and make millions!

I've been up since 5:30 this morning. Lately I haven't been going back to sleep much after taking Abdel to work (unless we were up really late the night before). After I took my son to work at 8:45 I went to the Flea Market and bought produce. There is a Hispanic family that has a huge stand there and the best fruits and veggies. Today I actually dared to speak a little Spanish since I am learning it after all. I found out that if you ask for maiz you don't get corn on the cob, you get a bag of dried corn. Usually the daughter helps me, but today since I was using some Spanish I talked to just about everyone. Even the father came over and told me how to prepare these little squash I bought (cut a hole down the center and fill it with a ground meat and spice mixture, bake it, then melt cheese over it and serve.) He told me in a mix of English and Spanish and I understood most of what he said. It feels so good to finally begin to be even a little bilingual. I spent $40 and it took 4 trips to get all of the stuff in the house.

Now I have a huge pot of vegetable beef soup started on the stove. It should be enough for us to eat off of all week so I don't have to spend $20 on Campbell's this week. Besides, I have to lose weight now. I'm not going to risk pregnancy diabetes. When Abdel found out that I only have 1 1/2 to 2 years before I graduate now, he decided he would get a loan and go ahead and get my tubes untied this year, if I will do it. I guess there goes my 2 weeks off at Christmas. He's agreed to quit smoking if I'm trying to get pregnant, and if we have a baby, so I think that's fair. I really want to wait one more year though, so I can be sure I will graduate. I've come too far to quit now and I'm scared of a bad pregnancy and having to quit school so close to the end. Oh well, we're planning to talk to my doctor, insurance company and the bank this coming week to see what our options are. I know my luck though, they'll say yes, I'll get the operation, and I'll be pregnant by the end of January. Those of us who don't particularly want kids always seem to have them easily while those who want them more than anything in the world never seem to be able to. Life has a very twisted sense of humor sometimes.

Honey --- Congratulations on your big decision! I just wanted to let you know that it's possible to finish, even if you do get pregnant. Abdel will be a huge help and support for you I'm sure! I found out I was pregnant as I started my 2nd year of college and my son's father abandoned us. So here I was 10 hours away from home at university in a super rigorous program - pregnant and alone. It wasn't always easy but let me tell you walking on that podium this summer was worth it and esp to see my little boy waving at me from the crowd. I know I've never been so proud of anything in my life. So just in case you do get a surprise you'll be able to finish - I know you can do it!! WOO HOO!!

Thanks Amera. This is my second time around at going to college, and I also have a full-time job/career. I've tried to tell Abdel that I really want to be there for my baby's childhood this time, since I had to work so much when my sons were little (they're 21 and 25 now). I know I can do it, if I have to, I just don't want to miss all of those wonderful "firsts" in our baby's life.

You're right though, Abdel took care of his nephew so when I was fussing last night that I want to be able to nurse he almost got indignant, which I knew he would. He insists that our baby will drink some formula because he refuses to miss out on getting to feed his baby. We don't even know if we'll be lucky enough to have one or not, but we'll see. He's open to adoption if it's too late for us to have our own.

I do admire you going to school with a young one. I tried when my oldest son was a baby, but then I took developmental psychology and got all guilty about not being home with him. Ironically I still didn't get to be home with him as much as I liked because I had to work. Then, when his brother was born and I was staying home with them, he wanted to go to daycare like the other kids in the neighborhood. Some kids are impossible to please!

My youngest just came in and very sarcastically told me "Hey mom, did you know it's a nice day out?" I told him yes of course since I've already been out today quite a bit. Apparently he wasn't quite as thrilled about it because he just came in at 9 this morning and went to sleep, and his ex-girlfriend who is now one of his best friends just called his cell phone and woke him up to tell him it is a nice day out and he has to go get her and take her somewhere. Guess that's what he gets for staying out partying all night.

Oh well, since she is right I went around and opened all the windows. I can hear my neighbor mowing her grass and smell the roses blooming in my front garden. I guess this is one of those weekends that it still thinks it's summer down here.
