Well, I leave the luck to God then :) I'm headhunting some good lawyer around , but I will have to speak with my uncle first . Sadly , it is not 100% , he going to help . But finger crossed :)

He can not help. Unless he coughs up the $500k for an EB5.

I'll second that you are being unrealistic about health insurance costs. Mid-30s, decent health is going to be in the $500 range. For somebody in the Medicare age range? On a non-employer-paid-for health insurance? That isn't going to be affordable for many people. And they will ask how you will afford it.

Yes, I do admitted I got the wrong number regarding the health insurance expenses . My strategy is that IF they can immigrate to the US , we can use the money from our house in Vietnam to get a decent home in a nice neighborhood here in SoCal . I dont want her to live in a rent , urban neighborhood . If God bless me enough , we just have to push the money toward her medical insurance . Then reconsider other things someway else.

He can not help. Unless he coughs up the $500k for an EB5.

My uncle is here in Los Angeles and his restaurant is actually up for $500k requirement.

My uncle is here in Los Angeles and his restaurant is actually up for $500k requirement.

Traceable cash that he would have to hand over to her for her to invest.

It doesn't matter if your uncle has a billion dollars. The money is already in the US. The EB-5 is a FOREIGN INVESTOR VISA. The reason to give a foreign person the visa is to get the FOREIGN MONEY into the US to create US jobs. Your uncle's money already creates US jobs, so no reason to give a benefit to your grandmother.

You really have to accept that your grandmother will not be allowed to immigrate to the US because there will be no way for her to overcome the likelihood of becoming a public charge. There is no medical insurance policy that you can get that will cover her pre existing conditions. Even if you paid $10,000 per month, her pre existing conditions will not be covered.

Reality sometimes sucks. You have to accept certain things in life.

Good luck to you.

I meant my grandma could be "employed" to my uncle's restaurant here in LA . "Boiler" probaly have not read the entire conversation in this thread , so he might get misunderstood about the EB5 . I understand the EB-5 Visa , unfortunately , even if we could somehow manage the 1$ million requirement , there is no way we can work it out with this 23 years old . I have no mentor , beside my far Uncle . I sure you know what is it when it come to "Vietnamese relative" in America .

I did my homework , and I dont give it much hope in "regular" insurance . In fact , PCIP is what I have been seeking for , I know she need to be be legally petitioned just to get started with the enrollment . That's why , I want to ask the "usual" way , to be straight up , ... fake marriage for example.

Sorry that you misguided my thought . I meant he "hire" her , I have never thought of giving her as a investor . Even if she could , how can this 23 years old nursing student with only 6 years residency get that kind capital going ?

I know one of my uncle friend , he own a Japanese restaurant here in LA , not one of his chef team could speaker proper english . And they all paid for year round salary at once . That's why I know it is possible . But not so much in this case , giving her leg condition .

EB5 Scheme is $500k, not $1m. Which is the route most investors go.

EB3 worker is backlogged 6 years, assuming she would qualify.

That isn't how work visas work. I doubt you can show that she has special skills needed that American citizen can't currently provide.

PCIP just stopped accepting applications, and it is a federally funded program. She won't be eligible. You need to grab some numbers from something like ehealthinsurance.com. Take what they give you, then add to it after they calculate your preexisting conditions. It will be high. Most people aren't on private health insurance after they are eligible for Medicare.

Don't suggest immigration fraud, that is against the TOS and your posts will be removed.

Would they really be happier in the USA? Are you accurately pricing your California real estate?

EB5 Scheme is $500k, not $1m. Which is the route most investors go.

EB3 worker is backlogged 6 years, assuming she would qualify.

" Required minimum investments are:

General. The minimum qualifying investment in the United States is $1 million.

Targeted Employment Area (High Unemployment or Rural Area). The minimum qualifying investment either within a high-unemployment area or rural area in the United States is $500,000.

A targeted employment area is an area that, at the time of investment, is a rural area or an area experiencing unemployment of at least 150 percent of the national average rate.

A rural area is any area outside a metropolitan statistical area (as designated by the Office of Management and Budget) or outside the boundary of any city or town having a population of 20,000 or more according to the decennial census."

I definitely would dig deeper on the EB3 loophole after I got the test report of my grandma on my hand in April . I have work here at Los Angeles Airport for 3 years, some of out head engineering are EB3 from Singapore and it take only 1 year for them to land to LAX . The fact that one of them came to the US to fix the engine of the aircraft , they flew him in from Singapore overnight for the assignment . After couple months or so , after his previous contract over , he signed our company contract and live in the US since then . Of course this is the first time he work in America. The Japanese chef I mention once got replaced pretty quick due to his family issue , my uncle friend somehow replace the chef from Japan not so long after that . I have not hear the entire story of the chef , but that's what my uncle told me awhile ago .

What I'm saying here is I do see the tiny beam light at the end of the tunnel. And I intend to head that way. I appreciate your delicate of accuracy though .

You can look up EB3 processing times yourself, they sound more like H1b. Or maybe L.

Thanks for the update . I do know they stopped the enrollment , I meant other private per-existing types of insurance are what I'm seeking.

I , too, highly doubted she could enter via work Visa , giving her current condition like I stated above. My apology but I just explained my thought in above post . The reason I have that plan is all the update of my grandma is from my mom . I will come back to the country on April , IF miracle happen , on the medical result , I might have more option ahead . Plus , I need that result to get quotes IF she could come here through marriage.

"Would they really be happier in the USA? " is what I gonna have to find out in April, you know, truthfully .

I sure am no expert at real estate , but fortunately , I do have vast interesting on the field since high school. I guess that's the blood from my mom , she also do real estate back in my home country . I can't use any specific word for the market , as the big picture , because there are so many factors that impact each individual house and circumstances. But this is what happen at the end of the fairytale, if my reunion wish is granted :)

Sure thanks you :) I already put it down on my to-do list . I need my grandma's medical result in April before taking a direction.

I highly doubt it , unfortunately. I love Korean's culture but I really don't know anybody live in S. Korea . Plus , language barrier is a huge bummer. Thanks you for the thought anyway :)

Then you should revisit other calendars, for your Mom sponsering her, once your Mom arrives in USA with a green card.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

The needs of a 80 years old women are not the same than a young adult. You have to think about what is the best for her.

What does she want? Does she want to go to the USA.

Vietnam is her home country and she may have a lot of problem to adapt herself, if she doesn't see around her people with the same culture and same language. And I think a lot of people are able to deal with immigration matters because it's better (financially) to leave here than in their home country so they don't complain. It was their "choice" to immigrate and to have a better life for their children and for themselves.

But I don't understand what could motivate an 80 years old to immigrate.

If she wants fine, but they said that elders are so stubborn lol.

Maybe you can also use this money for a helper, a driver... to help her.
