There is www.ourtime.com

Beside of the language barrier , I don't think online dating would end well , there's always a cost for a ticket if you know what I mean and I don't trust strangers . I asked my uncle's parent if they know any trusty single man , and it's still in progress .

Thanks you for the input anyway :)

I commend you on your committment to your grandmother. as a Viet Kieu, I understand your desire to bring her to the US. However, there is absolutely no way your grandmother will be allowed to immigrate to the US.

There is no petition that you can file to bring grandma to the US.

The cost of health insurance for your grandmother would be several thousands a month. It's not $500. I'm 40 and in perfect health and my insurance is already over $500 per month. Also, insurance will not cover pre existing conditions.

Even an EB-5 investor visa will not allowed your grandmother to immigrate due to her bad health and advance age.

Your grandmother is a likely public charge. She will not be allowed to immigrate to the US.

I did some research on EB5 awhile back . Through employment , the only way I could think of is my far uncle's restaurant , he could hire my grandma as a cook . But it would be unconvincing since she isn't capable of walking by herself . And as a investor , 1$ million dollars is the money my family don't have .

Anyway , thanks for the idea , I gonna dig deeper for loop-holes through employment :)

You must be joking....sorry, I really don't mean to be ruse, I actually admire your determination to bring the family together, but there is absolutely no way of doing that. To get a visa through employment, you have to have a specialized degree or skill that no one in the US has! I somehow doubt your 80 year old grandmother has this. Have you actually asked her what she wants? Would she want to come to the US anyway (I know my grandmother would not even think about it). Perhaps it may be better that you go back and be with them.

To be petitioned by a sibling takes 12 years plus.

Seem unlikely, but I just dont know if I can support negativity....if U R this determined then maybe you'll luck up

age and health are concerns, so keep trying, I know of a totally blind elderly lady petitioned by her sister and arrived

here last year, best wishes

Plenty of blind people can work and support themselves in the US. In Vietnam, the blind are virtually unemployable.

You can't compare the blind to an immobile 80 years old woman who will never be able to support herself.

can Grandma move to S. Korea and become a citizen there?

If so, she can travel to USA on the Visa Waiver Program.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I'll second that you are being unrealistic about health insurance costs. Mid-30s, decent health is going to be in the $500 range. For somebody in the Medicare age range? On a non-employer-paid-for health insurance? That isn't going to be affordable for many people. And they will ask how you will afford it.

would be interesting to see if it was actually possible to get any cover at that age.

Thanks you for the concern . I have not give that much effort on the employment route . Mostly because of her disability , I don't know much about other culture , but many Vietnamese restaurant owners do value the chef cook . Beside rent and utility , skilled chef cook got a pretty pleased salary . Even if the cook is out of state , the restaurant owner of course would pay for the travel expense . Especially Japanese sushi artists , they are nowhere near a figure of a employee. Also , my grandma's cook is legendary among the family :)

Of course if I have to go this route , I going to need my uncle's help , you know, "on paper" . But since she could not walk , that's hardly convincing .

Anyhow , you got the point . In fact , I going to come back there for a month or so , to get a better picture of my family .

I do aware of all these hardship . I recently got some info that elderly at that age most likely going to need a thousand dollars and up a month for medical insurance. According to my "estimation" after graduation , as long as it is below 2 thousand dollars a month , I might be able to handle it . In fact , I have tried to stay away from boy-girl relationship in the past years just to save up the money . Anyway , those are just my plans, prediction without any actual evidence . I'm going back to the country in April after 6 years in the States , for visiting of course and also for all the test result that I need to get the actual quotes from insurance company . Like I said , if I have not fallen , I have to give it a try .

You have no way of her immigrating to the US.

$2,000 insurance premium, I just do not see it, assuming anybody would quote.

Of course the premium is just the start, copays, deductibles, pre existing conditions etc.

I highly doubt it , unfortunately. I love Korean's culture but I really don't know anybody live in S. Korea . Plus , language barrier is a huge bummer. Thanks you for the thought anyway :)
