Happy Valentines......As I read some of the ####### posted on VJ (That would start wars between nations), I remembered why I was absent for years...

May be we can talk about some useful stuff (another poster kinda gave me this idea). May be old home remedies, fung shui, voodoo.... What's on your mind?

I remember learning that eating burnt match heads will repel mosquitoes.....

apparently biting on a pencil when you got headache helps relieve it.

chamomille tea calms you down, so does lavender, mint is great for stomach/digestion

raw potato slices are good when you have a bruise

well, I eat about 0.2 meals at home per week. So it's easier to eat a garlic pill vs having cooked garlic with vegies or something. When I do cook (cause my wife doesn't cook in her pampered life), I cook with lotsa garlic.

My wife made some good points.......

500 years ago, people that ate shark fin soup was "nuts" (tho a cruel practice), today you go to GNC and they try to sell you shark cartilage pills and swear how good they are for you.

30 years ago, acupunture was barbaric, today it is medicine without using medicine.....

 I don't cook either, but I use the excuse that my husband goes to culinary school and ENJOYS cooking (and is damn good at it). I'd probably unknowingly poison us or something.

Frequent sex can relieve both BPH symptoms and menstrual cramps.

Oh jeez, ouch. I can't understand how frequently shoving something up there could hurt with the already crippling cramps.

This isn't really a "remedy" per se, but my mother in law SWEARS that when you have a cold/flu/really any ailment at all, you should refrain from ingesting:

- cold drinks

- artificially colored foods

- pork

- watermelon

- citris fruits

- dairy

- seafood

This is also the woman who told me that wisdom teeth "don't exist" in Ecuador when I asked where I could go to get mine taken out (assuming it would be cheaper here than in the States), and who gave me ear drops to put in my eyes when I had pink eye... so I typically take her medical advice with a grain of salt.

If it hurts, he is doing it wrong. Intercourse isn't even necessary, but orgasm is, -- not his, but yours.

Ask Oprah:

As if we needed another reason

Besides its obvious perks, masturbating is good for your health. Studies show that orgasm can reduce sensitivity to pain, relieve menstrual cramps, and alleviate stress—possibly due to a surge in oxytocin and dopamine.

Orgasms are amazing for everything!

When I lived in Mexico for a little while, we used a freshly cut lemon on mosquito bites and to rub on you as repellent.

Also, a wet tea bag on chapped lips.

Nah, I meant while suffering from menstrual cramps. It differs from woman to woman but sometimes I don't even want to move, much less have intercourse. Orgasms I could understand, though. They help you get a good night's sleep, too!

I've also been told that if you mix aloe vera with coconut oil, it guarentees you a nice tan. This is helpful for hopeless burn cases like me - super pale, and when I DO get some sun, it just turns red, peels, and goes back to pale.
