You can technically stay outside of the US for a year, anything longer than that and you'll need a re-entry permit (2 years if you get a re-entry permit). An absence of longer than 6 months breaks your continuity for time spent towards citizenship though. As long as you have a good reason for being outside of the US and you don't stay away too long you should be fine, but keep in mind that any length of time outside of the US can be considered abandonment so be prepared to answer some questions if you're gone too long.

It's kinda confidential.. I am planning to stay for maybe at least a month.. Also I would like to attend my sister and daughter's graduation.. But I was hoping to maximize my stay until I get my daughter..

Less than 6 months and you're okay. I am certain you do not want to delay your naturalization as the other mentioned and gave great advice on as well. My friend's wife stayed 5 and half months and had not issues returning. This was just 6 months after her AOS.

"w" isn't a word so to clarify: You DO have advance parole or you don't? You DO have a greencard or you don't?

1. If you do NOT have advance parole (AP) then you can't leave.

2. If you DO have AP technically you can be gone up to 12 months but anything over 6 months can be held against you and breaks your continual residence for citizenship

3. If you do NOT have the GC and you do NOT have AP then see #1

4. If you do NOT have the GC but you do have AP then see #2

5. If you DO have the GC then see #2.

Sorry for confusion. Ok here's the clarification. I needed to go home early April. I have advance parole/combo card. My GC interview is next month. Before I fly back to Phil of course I will attend to my interview w my husband. If I'll get approved I would use my gc as my travel document instead. That if I'll get it before I leave. I have to book my flight soon because the tickets is getting ridiculous. :crying::ot2:

w as in w/ advanced parole

I assumed but it's better not to assume when leaving without AP is disastrous. Better to type in proper English to ensure there's not a miscommunication... especially when some slang means something different in different areas.
