I need advice.I just took my oath today and I requested for a name change. I want to send my moms petition tomorrow and submitting a copy of my naturalization certificate as a proof of my citizenship. However, my birth certificate shows different name because of the name change. And since I got married to a USC, all my ID cards shows my married name. I do not have my Philippine passport anymore since I applied for naturalization .

Include a copy of your marriage certificate. That will show proof of legal name change (married name).

You need to submit:

- your NSO birth certificate (proof of child-mother relationship)

- your US marriage certificate (proof of name change)

- copy of your Naturalization certificate (proof of US citizenship)

If that's the case, then your Naturalization cert will prove the legal name change from your US marriage certificate.

How do I sign my naturalization certificate? I know I sign with my full new name but I heard on the ceremony that I got to sign the picture too?

Did u not get the white paper ? that paper was proof that u had the name change. I had a name change too.

I have that white paper that the officer gave me with the congratulations is that the one you are referring about? How did you sign your cert? Did you sign at the side of the picture too?

Regardless of the name (maiden or married) on the marriage certificate, it is considered a legal name change document. Some states list your name as the maiden name and others list names as married names. I was married in a state that listed my name as "Jane Doe" (maiden name) even though I went on to change my last name to my husband's name. As with everything, different states do different things...
