Lost boarding passes

For once my habit of routinely cleaning out old papers and files that I don't think I will ever need again has come back to haunt me. See, I didn't ever plan on falling in love with anyone while studying abroad, and the thought never occurred to me that my old boarding passes would ever come in handy. So like an idiot I threw them away. Both trips. Even the second time after we were already a couple. Obviously I never researched anything about obtaining a VISA before and had no clue what a headache it is, but now I am forced into all the "fun". I do have my passport stamps. I know that counts as primary evidence. I also have my college transcript which indicates that I studied abroad in Costa Rica for a semester. Do you think that might count as primary evidence as well? Is there anything I might be overlooking?

I do have the travel itinerary from when I booked the flight. I know that is considered secondary (but obviously won't hurt to send it in) and we have several pictures together (not tons though...neither of us like camaras much). I have a history of my bank account transactions where I withdrew money at an ATM in Costa Rica as well as some receipts from the airport there.

Does this sound like enough? Has anyone had any personal experience with getting an RFE because you didn't have boarding passes? Do you think my secondary evidence is enough to make up for not having those boarding passes? I really can't afford another flight if I can avoid it at all, however if that is the difference between getting the visa or not, I will have to figure out how to swing it. Thanks for your help everyone!

Did your passport get stamped when u entered and exited the country? If so, I would send copies of the stamps along with the itineraries for support. Just make sure you send other evidence of having met such as pictures, affidavits from third parties, receipts from your trip, etc.

Passport stamps are great evidence, suggest that you include a copy of all of the pages of your passport in your evidence pack.

Good luck.

I met my now husband with many of the same issues when filing my petition for him! I didn't have my boarding pass- submitted copy of passport, college transcript, photos, and a copy of the bill/itinerary (since i could pull it up from email) we got an RFE for a box i didn't check but the evidence was no issue. Any evidence of on-going could also be included (FB, Skype, emaail, etc) That is not necessary for petition but a must for the interview.

Hi Mary Ellen, that is unfortunate, but it also happened to us. My fiance threw out the boarding passes for his trip to Manila. What we put in our I-129F package instead was a colored photocopy of the admission stamp in his passport (like the other posters have suggested). Your mileage may vary, but we got approved with no RFE (despite only meeting once). Other evidences in our package included overseas hotel receipts, screenshots of his bank account history with transactions in Manila highlighted, my engagement ring receipt bought in Boracay, our introductory to scuba diving certificates in Boracay with the same instructor and date, and around a dozen photos together and with my family and friends.

Good luck! Hoping for the best! :)

I am (usually) the beneficiary.

Thanks everyone. I don't feel very secure with the amount of evidence that I do have, but I guess I will just have to try it and see. I do have the passport stamps, but not many photos or other receipts besides the airport ones. My boyfriend lives in a little town that is pretty secluded and I really didn't go anywhere else while I was there. Photos would have been awkward as the area is really poor and I felt weird about carrying a camara around and looking like a rich tourist or something. Well, I guess I can't make up what I don't have so I'll just give it a go and hope for the best!
