Thai police certificate questions

My husband lived in Thailand for a while and we are working on obtaining Thai police records for our paperwork at the NVC.

He is an Indian citizen and was working in Thailand on a temporary work permit.

My first question is about mailing the documents. The instructions state to submit an envelope which has prepaid stamps on it in order for the records to be mailed back. Indian post is notoriously slow and many times documents get lost or damaged. Would it be possible to put my address on the prepaid envelope so that the records get mailed to me instead? Is there any violation of privacy laws in doing this?

Also, my husband does not have any documentation from his apartment lease or specific work documents. He only has the work visa stamped in his passport. Will that be enough to show employment proof so that he can obtain the records?

Thank you!

I am the petitioner.

It would be best to post this in the Thai portal. If this isnt done correctly and you dont completely understand what and how you are getting this info it could become a disaster.

I have to assume the instructions you refer to are those that pertain to getting the Thai police cert in Thailand. This means for example if you put stamps on the prepaid envelope they are intended to be stamps for a Thai address. If by your address you mean a U S address you will have to know how to have it mailed internationally. That means using the process we use in Thailand.

When I got mine they wanted a copy of my passport, finger prints and my Thai I D because I am a Thai citizen. You will probably have to submit a set of prints as well as the passport.

If you cant figure out a way to get the mailing part done send me a P M and I will help you.

Hi Ning,

Thanks for your helpful reply. I have no idea how to post things in the Thai portal. Can you explain how to do that?

I am getting the instructions from this link http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/thaipoliceapr09.pdf

Yes the address would be either my US address or my husband's Indian address. I have no idea how international post works in Thailand and I doubt that my husband does either. I would really appreciate help in that area.

Thank you so much!

I am the petitioner.

Try using the report button at the bottom left of the page here to ask a Mod how to post in other portal and to move this for you.

I had not seen this info from your link. Thanks for providing it. As I read this I too become confused about the mailing process.

I think most of this is easy to comply with. While its not clear they may mean just what they say but I have never seen mail leave Thailand with stamps from another country on it. I have mailed things out of Thailand my self and know how its done normally. I was required to pay Thai postage and fill out a form with the U S address on it which was then placed on the package. Had I used any other stamps they wouldnt have taken the envelope or package just as the U S post office wouldnt. I would worry that there is a mistake in the instructions.

I'll send you a P M with an idea of how this might be done.

APPLICANT RESIDING ABOARD

The applicant can send a request by mail to the Police Clearance Service Center with above required

documents and below additional documents:

the official taking the fingerprint.

 An envelope with pre-paid stamps and applicant's address to mail certificate back to

the applicant.

Would my husband need to send his passport along with the application or will certified copies of his original passport be sufficient? It always makes me nervous to send passports in the mail and he needs his passport to obtain documents in India.
