Yep, he's coming up a few days before. Then we are taking the kids on the train from Toronto to Montreal the day before the interview. We are going to make it more fun that way and we can also both do some work since we'll have WiFi on the train. That way we don't have to stop for potty breaks or food or to stretch our legs! We're trying to take advantage of the trip as much as we can even though our time is limited. We wound up getting train tickets for the 4 of us for around $350. The kids are excited. I'm relieved.

I've got a chest full of DDD but I guess a guy could buy those right? It was really REALLY funny to me the way the nurse said "I just need to take a peek down there" or whatever it was, told me to lie down, lifted the gown, said thanks and told me to wait for the doctor.

Okay, the "thanks" at the end is what weirds me out the most about that ;)!

Crunched numbers and because my mom lives in BC, has a time share in Vancouver we could probably use, it would be approx half the cost of Montreal. I think Surrey is the better option for me.

Maybe call them to find out how far out they're booking appointments. The reason I ask is because generally we've been told that the interview is about 2 months after our case complete. You have to have your interview date before they'll book your medical (in Toronto anyway maybe different in BC) That gives you plenty of time to schedule and prepare for your medical and get the results back. HOWEVER, as of late, Canada has had interviews coming up within 4 weeks of case complete. That is a little harder to scramble to coordinate. I know the office in Toronto was surprised at how soon the interviews were coming up. My medical was a week ago and my files are only ready just now. We did have to send a fax in to update vaccination records but it is stressing me out because I have to coordinate going in to pick them up still.

I know some people go to Montreal a few days earlier and get their medicals done there. For me, that would be too last minute. But maybe that works for you?

Just sharing some thoughts that are hopefully helpful.

Okay, the "thanks" at the end is what weirds me out the most about that ;)!

INDEED! "K, girl parts, thanks!"

Yeah I vividly recall my experience with chicken pox at age 6 and how all of my cousins came over to visit and were told to hug me. Haha... hm I wonder why. Sure enough they got chicken pox the next week! It was really bad. Remember having them on my feet and having to wear tight shoes for orthopedic reasons. SO ITCHYYYYYYYYYY.

Chances are if she can't remember, there probably wasn't any chicken pox :D

It's very helpful. I have always worried that a week in Montreal wasn't long enough to get back the medical results. I recalculated and came up with about 1300 if I go to Surrey for the medical. I would take 5 days off work for that (I could drive and it would take longer to get there but may be cheaper in gas vs flight to Kelowna) and 2 for the interview. It's about 2k if I go to Montreal and wait there for 8 days with hopes I get the results in time. I am figuring about $100/night for a hotel and $30 a day in food. Wouldn't be paying for a hotel with the BC trip, and I would get to see my mom.

Your plan definitely makes sense. I was fortunate to be in a city that has a medical office with a panel physician.
