Well we had our medicals this morning. We arrived at 7:45 and were done by 10:45. Much longer than I anticipated. Not a lot of people in front of us but just slow to make it through the process.

Anyone who has kids, I definitely recommend taking someone with you to watch them. I brought my dad with me so they could hang out with him while I was in my exam. They do have an area where kids are allowed to "play" but there was no way I could trust my little guys on their own for half an hour while I sat waiting in my gown in a room for my exam.

The nurse did each of our heights and weights. Did my blood pressure and pulse but not kids.

Checked the kids vision but not mine.

Kids left the room while I waited for my exam. Got in the gown and waited... and waited...

Nurse checked "down there" I think to make sure I was actually female. Then I waited again for the doctor to come in. He was SUPER NICE!

A few questions, confirmed my medications, didn't have to show him anything, just discussed it.

Throat. Lungs. Heart. Tummy. DONE

Boys came in, went through the checklist of questions.

Throat. Lungs. Heart. Tummy. Boys were checked for hernia. DONE

Got sent back to the waiting room and waited another 20 minutes for the tech to take my blood. She wasn't doing anyone else's blood. She was on her cell chatting and texting. Yes, I'm serious. I actually went and asked her if she knew how much longer it would be and she told me I could come in and do it.

Then we handed in more paperwork and was given a map to the x-ray location so got that all done in about 10 more minutes.

We had one small roadblock where my younger son had a check box missing on his immunization card so I had to backtrack to our old doctor and ask them to fax it in. They say they are doing that now.

That's it. I guess my review is pretty quick but just wanted to share some feedback. If anyone has questions I'm always happy to answer them. The medicals were easy. The doctor we saw was AMAZING. It just took a lot longer than I had hoped.

Good grief. That's just ridiculous!! Agh she needs a taste of her own medicine. Just wait till she has to wait for something like that one day.

I mostly was stressed out because I had very tired kids with me. I really wanted to try to get out of there as quick as possible. I'm OK with waiting my turn and knowing that each part takes time. But when you're observing someone NOT working when they could be and they're having a direct impact on your level of comfort in a bit of a stressful time... well it is bothersome.

At least you got that part over with now! Only one more (big!) step to go :).

Thank you, MsHogan. Did you go to Dr Howard Seiden & Associates?

Sounds like they dont ask any record of vaccines. I have some vaccines but I dont have any record at all.

Yes, they do ask for records of vaccines. I didn't mention that because to me that was "given" but I should have included that I guess. That is probably THE most carefully scrutinized item of all. There are very strict rules about the vaccinations necessary to immigrate to the U.S. If you don't have proof then you'll have to get some tests done to prove you're immune or get caught up on all your boosters, or a combination of the two. Here is the link to the immunization pages for Dr. Seiden's http://panelphysicians.com/Pages/Immunizations.htm

I've actually hit a bump because one of my kids' vaccination records is missing check marks even though they had the vaccination. I've had to contact our doctor from 4 years who who we don't even see anymore in order to get them to fax what is needed.

Yep, and it was literally just a peak. Though your husband will have to be checked for a hernia which means a closer look than what I had :) I truly believe it was just to be sure I was female!

Your vaccinations should be up-to-date and OHIP would of course cover such things as it is something we are all able to receive in Ontario. It has nothing to do with whether or not you're moving to another country. You should just let your doctor know you would like your vaccines brought up to current!

I got Tetanus Diphtheria and Mumps, measles, german measles today at the walk in clinic. Influenza, the doctor said that is the same like ful shot that I took on Oct. For chickenpox, she only give me the prescription. I have to buy by myself and that is not available in Shoppers. So, if I have to look for it or I will ask my family doctor tomorrow. Please let me know if you know any places that I can buy.

But the doctor from walk in clinic only give me a letter on a small piece of paper aying that I had received these vaccines. I think it is not good enough to present to the panel doctor. Should I ask them to type the proper one and get doctor's signaure. They said they can do it if I want but I have to pay for that. I am willing to pay but they are so busy today.

Thanks, MsHogan.

You've never had chicken pox? LOL I have a scar on my arm that's pretty convincing evidence that I don't need the vaccine because I've had it. LOL I remember showing the nurse when my daughter was vaccinated and she had to point it out to EVERYONE under the age of 25 in the building because they'd never seen a chicken pox scar before. LOL!!!!

Going to get my titres done on Tuesday at the walk in. There is no way to get my vaccination records. I've tried.

I’ve never had chicken pox either even with 5 siblings getting it. The public health nurse figured I’d passed my immunity down to my daughter because she was exposed 5 times and no chicken pox for her either.

I did get her vaccinated against it though because she is afraid of needles. I didn’t want to put her through a blood test and possibly a needle to vaccinate her if she didn’t have anti-bodies in her system.

I am going to make an appointment for blood titres when I get back from visiting hubby.
