We sent our application for AOS, EAD and AP in August (2012)to the Chicago Lockbox - I got text messages about 5 days later indicating that all applications had been received. My husband then went for his biometrics appointment in Buffalo and we received combined EAD/AP card the middle of October. Since then, we have heard absolutely NOTHING. When I check the USCIS website, it says that it is still in the "acceptance" phase, and then this is what it says: "On August 10, 2012, your fingerprint fee was accepted and we have mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. Your case is being processed at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you."

As far as I know, we did not receive any additional notice describing how our case would be processed. Is it normal for cases to be sent the the National Benefits Center?? I thought they went to a local office (ours would be Buffalo, NY).

It is now the middle of February....should I be concerned??? I keep thinking that if they needed anything, I would get a letter, or something, right???

I would appreciate any advice. Thank you!! :-)

Yes, that transfer is normal. If it had been sent to your local office, you would have been scheduled for an interview.

If they needed anything, they would have let you know.

All AOS cases are sent to the NBC. It will either stay at the NBC and be approved without interview, or sent to your local office in which case you would be informed of an interview there. AOS is taking longer than it used to. Lots of backlog. I believe processing times are around 6-9 months now.

when was your husband's biometric? as for my case I received my appointment for my appointment in less than a month. I suggest that you should wait up to 2 months because usually it takes 2 months before you receive an appointment for your husband's interview. Just hope and pray for it. everything is possible if you give it all to Jesus :) that's what I always do the whole process up until now. :)

We are still waiting... Same boat... in the middle of nowhere....

Yes, it is a very long process... Looks like 6, 7, 8, or more to get this AOS done...

The folks that have interviews, have luck and get theirs done quicker.

The ones that do not require an interview, are stuck at NBC and at their mercy...

Wait... Wait... and Yes, Wait.

I do plan to make some calls when I hit the magic 6 months...
