I found my immunization records!!! I dont know why i am so happy about it...but i am. For anyone under 30 living in edmonton and had their shots done in edmonton call 780-413-7985 and the lovely voice on the other end of the phone will mail (no charge) you out the proof required.

On a side note...i called Dr. Channa's office today and the secretary almost hung up on me when i told her that i am yet to receive a file/case number. You guys are right...they arnt very nice...and by the tone of her voice i think they really do hate the immigration people.

Yup, they are not nice... which they should be, considering all the darn business they do out of our money  .... to later tell us we have no right to access said information  . Be patient G&A, and do wait for MTL to give you a case number and also, important: remember that medicals have an 'expiration date' of I believe 6 months (that's what Dr. Chana's b!tch, I mean secretary told me). So don't get them done way to ahead baby or you'll have to get them redone and I would hate that!!!

Nice to meet you BTW, Len.

Nice to meet you too! Thanks for the info! Expiration date of 6 months is correct. I just wanted to get all of my immunization records before i get to that point. What a bunch of clowns they are over at that doctors office! The sad thing is that people like us paid for his mansion and all of his toys.

my stuff was supposed to be ready to pick up today, but the results from my titers test for measles, mumps and chicken pox wasn't in yet, so i have to wait until friday. i did mention to the secretary that in order to get my mmr (should i need it), i HAVE to have a copy of my results from the titers or the health office will not give me the booster. i got the titers done by my GP back in may, but they only listed Rubella and didn't break out measles or mumps. the rubella level was more than adequate, so the would not give me the MMR when i went for my tetanus.

the receptionist took my fax number and said she would send the results for the titers when she got them, so here's hoping...

Ok everyone...Im sort of confused. This is my situation and I am hoping you all can give me some feedback. I have all of my immunization docs and I am up to date with the tetanus shots. I had MMR when i was a baby. Do you think I should get the teters done or does it not even matter because I met the documentation requirements. I was under the impression that IF you dont have the documentation, you must get immunizaed. In order to get Immunized, you need to get teters done prior to check you immunity. Am I correct?

Nope. It's only supposed to be 3 days I believe. My issue isn't with the doctor though; she was okay. It is mostly a matter of the doctor not having received results from an extra appointment - I'm thinking they either got lost on someone's desk (!) or accidentally sent to the wrong doctor or something! Hoping to solve that issue soon!

Okay, so I'm not trying to pry into anyone's medical background, but I'm just looking for a little info, so please feel free to PM me if you don't want to talk in the forum about this.

I'm just wondering if anyone who went to Dr. Chana in Edmonton here has any past history of depression or hospitalization for something like that, and if you do, did you tell him, and if you did, was there any problem with it? I mean, I have a history of a few hospitalizations for depression over 6 years ago and I'm wondering if it's going to affect my medical. Is that something that you can fail for do you think?

Also, does anyone know if you MUST bring a letter from your doctor stating that chronic conditions are under control? I mean I think that things like acid reflux disease and hypothyroidism are just a drop in the bucket, but is the doctor at the medical going to think it's significant?

Wow, I surprise myself! I'm really worried about this stupid medical! ARGH!

Although I cannot specifically reply to your concern about the depression issue (I know others here in VJ have had similar battles with depression and got through the medical ok, I hope they see this and pipe up with their experiences), I want to reassure you about chronic conditions, etc.

The doctor will ask your medical history, what meds you are currently on, etc. Chronic conditions like the ones that you have mentioned will not be a problem. They are more concerned with communicable diseases (TB, AIDS, and such) that you may currently have. I, as well as other fellow Canucks, have survived cancer, stroke and other major health problems and had no problems with the medical. I prepared down a day or two before the medical and wrote down my medical history/meds list to refresh my memory. It's going to be ok. :)

Thank you SO much for your reassurance. It means the world to me! It's nice to know that there are people out there who've survived this whole process which seems a little bit overwhelming at the moment!
