Some of us Canadians couldn't get our records. After so many years, some places don't keep them anymore. They didn't have mine.

I went for a Titres test. It was pretty easy, I walked into the MediCentre, brought the list of what I needed to be checked for and they sent me to the Lab. I showed low immunity on a few things and went to the Health Unit and got my shots redone. I waited a month for the shots to show up in my system and redid the Titres.

Alberta Health Care covered both the Titres and the shots, so it didn't cost anything.

I think the Titres is worth it, just to make sure you are protected. Some of these diseases are resurfacing. When I was in Vancouver a few days ago, I walked into a store and there were a few Japanese girls shopping and wearing face masks. I saw on the news that several of them had been quarantined at the Vancouver Airport and at a Vancouver Hotel because of Measles. I was glad I had my shots redone- I came up low on my measles immunity!

I am super pissed at Dr Chana's office!! I was hoping I would never have to deal them again and I could repress the memory of ever having to deal with them at all. Dr Chana himself was fine, it's those byotches at the desk who are vile.

I phoned them today and asked about either getting copies of my medical results or at least the Vaccination part. I am still a little confused on the AOS part and the medical results. They were idiots there, I talked to a few different people- she basically said that everything was out of their hands and they had nothing more to do with anything. She said "why don't you phone the consulate? I'll give you the name of the clown I had to deal with." Right. That "clown" had to phone the Doctors office 3 times to get the correction on my medical report done and back to them.

I have gotten confirmation (from another member, not the Doc's office) that my medical results are in the big envelope I bring to POE- I wasn't sure if they were in there. And I can try asking them at the POE if they are willing to photocopy my immunization stuff for me. I do also have my Titres results from the Lad and hope that comes in useful.

My bad experiences with Dr Chana's office:

I had jumped the gun on the medical part, I thought I could get it done with the I 129 receipt. I was already in with the Doctor before they realized I needed something with a case number from the Consulate. I will give them some credit and say they were good about holding my results for me until I had the proper paperwork.

In the waiting room, I was chatting and being friendly with the woman at the desk- I joked around about the immigration process and how it turns you into a nutcase. She said "Ya, we hate dealing with the immigration people."

The eye exam- Driving there, it was a bright sunny day and between the sun and the snow glare my eyes were a little buggy. I had also just looked up at the ceiling and had that rectangle of light when I closed my eyes from the florescent lights. I asked if she could give me a sec for my eyes to adjust- she ignored me and said hold this over your left eye.

When I did get the package 3, I phoned them. I had my Lab sheets already from when I was there and she said go ahead and do my XRAY and blood test. I faxed the Titres results I got to them along with the first page of packet 3 that had my case number on it. I went the next day to HYS Centre and did that. I had concerns about getting my results back in time and the Lab said it should only take a few days, I also phone Chana's office on the Monday (I was leaving early Wednesday morning) she said she would see what she could do to have my results for Tuesday.

Tuesday I phone the Doc'c office and asked if results were in- the girl put me on hold for a few minutes and came back saying no. I asked if they could write me a letter confirming I had gotten the medical and I would bring that to my Interview. She said she would talk to (Judy?) and call me back. An hour and a half later I phoned them back- after some confusion I found out my medical results were there and I rushed downtown to get them. I had to work at 4 and made it there and back in time.

At the Interview- after being questioned a few times about what medical condition I suffered from ??? The Doctor's office checked the box that said I suffer from a Class B medical condition. He asked me a few times about drug use, mental illness, depression, etc. I kept saying no, my gallbladder has been my only medical problem. After a few tries they got a hold of Chana's office to confirm all was fine with me. The Consulate asked if I could pick my visa the next day because this needed to be fixed or it would cause me problems down the road. I said no problem and went back the next day.

After waiting for a bit, the woman finally comes to the window with my envelope and passport, she said they phoned Chanas office 3 times to get this back. She did not seem very happy with having to deal with them.

Wow, that felt pretty good to vent! :)

wow, thanks for the heads-up with these people, my medical is in two days. i'm going to get my vaccinations updated tomorrow (MMR and tetanus; for my age bracket, Hep B is not required though I'm going to try and get that through my doctor before crossing the border), so once they give me the paperwork proving i've had the boosters, would you recommend that i make a couple photocopies of that for later on? i should probably do this for any other paperwork i bring to the medical then, just in case...

I'm still not 100% on the vaccination part and using it for AOS.

I am pretty sure that my medical results are in the big sealed envelope I bring to POE. I can ask if they would be willing to make a copy of my vaccinations for me. Or I do have the Titres results from the Lab, I can also phone the Heath Unit tomorrow and ask them if they could give me an updated record since I had all shots redone recently- I just thought of that.

I know once I am in the US, I will have to take it to a Civil surgeon that is USCIS approved to have it transcribed.

I'm still learning about the AOS part :)

Stacey,

I think they are SOOOOOOOOOOO b-s-ing you. They have to keep copy for their records so why the @$#%$^ don't they just reprint the darn thing? Maybe they want more cash - this "panel physicians" are all about the extra bucks.... in cash only of course :hehe: Ask them directly how much for a copy of MY MEDICAL - nicely as you are my friend; don't be like me he he he. ;)

Call that witch again. I know she is quite the diva.... AS IF....

Cheerio's my friend, L.

I really don't want to have to deal with them at all.

I have my Titres results, I'll get my record from the health unit tomorrow and I think I'll be ok with that. Worst case, I get another Titres in the US if I really have to.

I'm wondering- does USCIS pick these Doctors? If so, how do they pick them?

Can't blame you my friend. Who picks these doctors??????????? GREAT question that I can imagine no one can answer... probably another big secret of the insane visa process. I'm sure they go through the ringer to get consular certification or something like that - but believe me, they are making quite a buck out of it, they could at least treat us decently!!!!
