Hi,

I am annulled and I would like to know if I can use my passport which will be expired next year. I used ex surname in this passport. I am planning to get new one soon but of course I like to know if I can,if not..I will apply for new one. Thank you and your responds would be highly appreciated.

Usually you need at least 6 months left on your Passport receive the visa for the US, so if you are just starting your papers I would wait and get a new one since you will be very close on the amount of time. I am not sure about the name but what name are you using on everything else? Seems like your maiden name-- so I would think a passport in that name that is being used everywhere would be easier in the long run.

You are also not going to want an expired passport soon after entering the states as you will have to renew here which can be difficult (depending on your home country)

I would do it now if i hadn't applied at this point. If you have submitted already, others may have ideas.... gl

We are in same situations. Thanks to this very informative and kind respond. I will renew my passport as soon as I get my NSO birth certificate. Happy valentine's day to all. (L)

We have not yet submit 1-129f yet but for sure I will renew my passport using my maiden name. Thanks a lot for your help.

yes you can use it... but if u can change it to your maiden name asap then do it...

N-400:
May 9, 2017: N-400 packet was sent
May 15, 2017: NOA1 
June 05, 2017: Biometric Done
June 19, 2017: Case is in Line for an Interview
June 25, 2018: USCIS Scheduled an Interview
Aug. 02, 2018: Interview Date- APPROVED!
