Hi Good day everyone! I just want to ask anyone here who has an idea regarding the order of ceremony for civil marriage in the USA. I just want to know the flow of the ceremony so my fiance and I can plan ahead and make the invitation. Thank you.

June 2008 - We Met
August 21, 2009 - formal relationship started
November 2009 - First Meeting
May 2010 - Second Meeting
May 2011 - Third Meeting
Feb 06, 2012 - Sent I-129f Package
Feb 09, 2012 - NOA1 received
May 2012 - Fourth Meeting
Aug 01, 2012 - NOA2 approved
Nov 08, 2012 - Medical at St Lukes
Nov 13-15, 2012 - Sputum Smear (NEGATIVE)
Jan 15, 2013 - Sputum Culture (NEGATIVE), PASSED
Jan 28, 2013 - Visa Interview PASSED
Feb 01, 2013- Visa On Hand

May 31, 2013 (Day 0) - AOS Package Sent
June 10, 2013 (Day 10) - Received E-Notification for AOS, EAD and AP
June 14, 2013 (Day 14) - Received NOA1 via mail
June 15, 2013 (Day 15) - Received Biometric Appointment
July 02, 2013 (Day 32) - Biometrics done
July 23, 2013 (Day 53) - USCIS Website AOS status from "Acceptance" to "Testing and Interview"

July 30, 2013 (Day 60) - USCIS Website AOS status Testing and Interview - August 29, 2013

July 31, 2013 (Day 61) - Received NOA mail for Interview

August 06, 2013 (Day 67) - USCIS Website EAD status "Card Production"

- USCIS Website AP status "Post Decision Activity - Approved Application"

August 13, 2013 (Day 74) - USCIS website EAD status " Card Mailed to the address on file"

August 17, 2013 (Day 78) - EAD/AP card on hand

August 29, 2013 (Day 90) - Interview Day @ 10:15am

By civil do you mean like a city official? Go to your local town hall, make an appointment, give them your info so they can type up the marriage certificate, come back a few days/weeks later and get married. My wife and I did this and it took maybe 3 minutes. Then we went out to eat. ( the exact flow is..you stand here, your fiancee stands there, listen to the official, say I DO, put on the ring, kiss..sign the papers..then go and eat).

There isn't much to announce except date, place, and time. If there is a reception, make note of that too. "Civil" can mean anything from a courthouse wedding to an elaborate ceremony. Whatever you want.

We did it with our closest friend as marriage commissioner and one other friend as witness with him. In our cabin, next to the wood stove. You have to get your friend registered as marriage commissioner for a day in order to do it that way. Just fill out the form at the State Bureau of Vital Statistics office. Once those are signed you send it in to the Bureau of Vital Statistics with a fee and you'll get your marriage certificate. Call the State Bureau of Vital Statistics and ask them about getting a marriage license, and go from there.

Requirement is different from state to state, here in AZ get the license (which means fill out a form, have ID, pay they fee, they hand you the license), find a J-P get married... no waiting.
